Ground turkey is a staple in my kitchen. I buy in bulk and keep it in my freezer. My favorite use for this versatile item is turkey burgers. It’s fun to experiment with items in my fridge, cupboard, or farm box, aiming for half of the ingredients to be vegetables and whole grains. This creates a complete nutritional meal for my kids that also affords them choice of toppings and condiments. My personal favorite is to enjoy the patty on top of leafy greens with honey mustard dressing. Instead of consuming that full-fat 500 calorie beef burger, opt for one of these juicy turkey burger recipes. Here are a few of the best turkey burger recipes from SparkRecipes members.

I have never understood this fad. I can buy beef as lean as turkey. And then I don't have to cook it to well-done. I'll stick with my beef. - 9/8/2014   8:10:39 PM

I make my turkey burgers with half ground, portabella mushrooms, diced onion and green pepper and an egg to help hold it together. They are so moist and yummy. They are quite delicate so plan on grilling them indoors on your George foreman type grill or just on a frying pan with a tiny bit of olive oil. - 6/12/2013   11:32:37 AM

I ate ground turkey for quite a while and made my chili with it, but it got to tasting bad. Maybe some of these would help me with it if they ever put the ground turkey on sale again. It has been over $4 a pound. Otherwise, maybe I can substitute the 93% lean ground beef which they have been putting on sale recently. - 6/12/2013   10:32:23 AM

I wish I could get my DH to eat ground turkey, he just refuses. Since he does all the grocery shopping, I am happy head at least gets the low fat type of beef! - 6/12/2013   8:29:25 AM

I have made the Greek Turkey Burger in the past, and it is fantastic! Even my kids love them. Even if you normally don't like turkey burgers, give that one a try.

@Kylar - ground beef is higher in saturated fats (bad fats) and has lower protein count (good for feeling fuller) than ground turkey. - 6/11/2013   11:07:08 PM

I don't get the love for ground turkey, it's the same fat content and price of 85 beef. Why not just get that? - 6/11/2013   9:27:32 PM

Buy some chili garlic sauce in the asian section of the grocery store and put a dab of that in these and they are great. I use turkey for spaghetti, meatloaf anything I can make with beef I use turkey but I almost always use the chili garlic sauce. A little flavor without being totally obnoxious and overbearing like hot sauces can at times - 3/16/2013   5:21:56 AM

I will often use ground turkey or chicken in place of ground pork in recipes. My favorite turkey burger recipe is the Kicken' Turkey Burger with Carmelized Onions on Allrecipes. I don't use cheese and only use a small bit of the sauce. I serve baked sweet potato fries on the side with a little sauce for dipping. YUM! - 3/6/2013   12:06:36 PM

The author states she buys in bulk and freezes...would you add the seasonings and form into patties before freezing? Otherwise how would you safely thaw bulk to use in these recipes? - 3/6/2013   11:12:05 AM

I love turkey burgers, but my husband isn't a fan. These all sound like great-tasting recipes that maybe he'll enjoy. I especially like the idea of baking the burgers instead of frying. There's a fine line between "just right" and too dry when frying. - 3/6/2013   8:44:21 AM

Turkey burgers is what my family eats and we've been very creative in our menus. these help as well. The same thing you do wtih beef, you can almost do with turkey, as I have taught them as my parents have taught me. Thanx - 3/6/2013   3:59:41 AM

Thanks for these! Turkey burgers are my fav! The way I order these is: I order a large leafy salad, without cheese or dressing! Then I order the turkey burger with out any sauce on it, BUT adding sauted onions on top, also muschrooms if they have them. ! of my fav. places Famous Dave's serve grilled pineapple so I will add that, too! No bread or bun. A tiny side of BBQ sause, I will dipp my fork into & then take a bite. This is the best! Thanks for this artical! - 3/5/2013   9:17:14 PM

While I am OK with turkey burgers, my family would rebel, so the compromise is 93% ground beef. Same amount of fat as ground turkey but more "real beef" taste, and the family is none the wiser. :-) - 3/5/2013   7:26:09 PM
