Good morning, SparkFriends!

This morning we launched a brand new Welcome Guide on your SparkPeople Start page today.  You'll find it just below the section for Step 1 on your Start page. Check out the screen shot below to see where it is.

This project has been in the works for several weeks now. The guide is intended for brand new members, but anyone can read it and complete it any time. It introduces all of SparkPeople's main features and explains what you can do at SparkPeople—and why our program and site is so uniquely positioned to help people reach their goals. New members (in particular) will be directed to using this guide right after they join, so they can discover SparkPeople's cool features--and learn what makes SparkPeople so special.

For all members, the guide helps explain why SparkPeople's combination of tracking tools, articles and videos from our coaches, and supportive Community features work so well together to help people stay motivated, have fun, and reach their goals--often for the first time in their lives, despite many years of dieting and workout attempts. It also shares some of the best ways to use the site in a time-saving manner without feeling overwhelmed.

Every member who completes the seven-step guide will earn 500 SparkPoints. You can take your time completing the guide at your own pace, earning 50 Points per completed step, plus another 150 points for finishing the entire series.

Using the guide is simple: You'll be prompted to begin (or to move to the next step) from your Start page, where you'll also see a progress bar letting you know how close you are to completion (see image above). After you read each section, just click the button at the bottom of the page to earn your Points and advance to the next section.

The Welcome Guide has been added to everyone's Start page, but you can click the "Remove Guide" button next to it any time if you prefer to hide it from your Start page. You can also find the Guide by using the orange navigation at the top of the website: Mouse over "Site Guide" and click "Welcome Guide" to get there.

For new and seasoned members alike, we think this guide will give you valuable insight into getting more from the SparkPeople experience. We look forward to your feedback (please comment below) as you start using the Welcome Guide.

Just started the guide and it is such a great help! I just recently joined and didn't notice the welcome guild. It can be a bit overwhelming with all the features! Awesome features and so many resources.. I can't wait to get familiar with it all. - 6/2/2014   6:56:09 PM

Can't wait to go through the guide. I especially like this aspect of it "the best ways to use the site in a time-saving manner without feeling overwhelmed." Sometimes I do feel overwhelmed. I want to take full advantage of the SP site, but, wow, there is SO much! Looking forward to learning more. - 11/14/2013   9:07:49 AM

I wish SP would bring back the diet stages. I know that they are out there, but you can't get them to automatically email you anymore, For those of us looking to get back into the swing of SP, the stages are tremendously helpful. Shame SP felt the need to replace them with a pay service. :( - 11/14/2013   5:21:04 AM

its looking interesting as far as i've gotten - one little bit of feedback.. i'd get rid of words such as 'magic' and 'guarenteed'... just my 2 cents worth... your site and all you offer are great tools but none of it is magic, nor guarenteed... otherwise our plateaus would never have happened and 100% would be successful! instead it takes a lot of hard work, dedication and motivation to use what SP offers! - 11/13/2013   1:27:43 PM
