Altering just a few of your daily habits can go a long way, protecting your noggin in the process. Even having just one more cup of coffee or one more hour of sleep can keep your mind sharp for years to come. Continue reading for advice from a nutrition researcher, an exercise expert and a scientist.

Eat Berries

One study found that eating two or more ½-cup servings a week delayed the onset of Alzheimer's by 2½ years.

Drink Caffeinated Coffee

Experts think it has a substance that protects the brain, so aim for 2 to 3 cups a day.

Eat Cocoa Powder

The antioxidants in cocoa powder may help boost your thinking skills. Try mixing 1 Tbsp cocoa powder with skim milk, or sprinkle it into coffee. You can also try a square of dark chocolate, but make sure it has a high cocoa content (look for seventy percent or higher on the label).

Exercise is definitely the ticket for me. And I had read about Omega 3's. I started taking them for my heart, but that has been somewhat disproved. But I keep taking them for my memory and brain health. - 12/17/2013   9:58:20 AM
