If you've been around SparkPeople for a while, you might remember when we created a list of the Top 100 Running Songs of All Time a few years back. Since more great running tracks have come out in the meantime, we decided we were due to create a Top 100 Running Songs of All Time: Volume 2!
Based on your suggestions for songs and artists that we missed in the first list, plus newer tracks that have come out in the past three years, we've created a list of songs for you to vote on (you can also write in your own favorite picks that we might have missed). The top 12 songs of the bunch will be made into a continuous playlist that's re-mixed at exactly the right BPM for running to help you become a faster, stronger runner!

The walk-up song is a time-honored tradition in Major League Baseball, offering players a brief moment in the big game to express themselves—and oftentimes their culture or state—by way of song. A great walk-up song has the power to get fans up on their feet, maybe intimidate the pitcher and make that long walk from the on-deck circle to the batter's box a walk that inspires confidence and a bit of swagger. While some players opt for viral guilty pleasures, an unexpected slow jam or the not-so-subtly smug, most players pick beats that get their adrenaline going and the crowd jumping, making them perfect for cardio or HIIT workouts.

I know many people think of Valentine's Day as a silly non-holiday, something card and marketing companies conjured up so we'll buy more stuff. I don't consider myself a materialistic person, and I really can't explain it, but Valentine's Day has been my favorite holiday since I was a kid. I guess I just always thought it was sweet and fun. My parents always made us their valentines, so it was always special. In fact, now in my 30s, I still get a valentine in the mail from my parents every February 14. To me, a day that celebrates love of all kinds (family love, romantic love, friendship love, etc.) is a happy thing!

It seems like almost every time you turn on the TV there is another award show coming. A few years ago, the night I taught Spinning happened to land on Halloween—not once, but two years in a row. I figured that anyone willing to show up on Halloween night to work out is pretty dedicated (or childless?), but either way, I wanted to make the workout festive and fun. I created a healthy Halloween workout mix for the class, dimmed the lights, and handed out my homemade granola bar treats when the ride was over.
It may be silly to some, but creating your own Halloween-themed workout playlist could motivate you to work out on Halloween (a must if you're going to be dipping into the candy jar that day), and it's one of few ways to have fun that doesn't involve eating candy!

Oooooh boy it is hot out there! With temps in the mid-90s and humidity levels above 90% as well here in Cincinnati, it's a wonder I'm exercising at all—let alone doing it outside! Yet somehow, I'm not alone. In my neighborhood, the walkers, runners and cyclists aren't missing a beat.
