Sorry not been on in the last few days.

Monday night we found out that I have had a miscarriage. I was 7 weeks pregnant, we didn't even realise.. I had no pregnancy symptoms at all. We have been going through such a rough patch that pregnancy really was the last thing on our minds. It obvioulsy just was not our time. I have been 'hiding out' with my boyfriend this week, eating what I like, sleeping loads and not exercisng at all so I am sure I have probably gained a bit but all my focus and energy will be back come monday. It will be good to have something else to think about.

We didn't know they were there so it doesn't exactly feel like a loss but still a tough wee time..

Hope everyone is well :)

Julie, don't worry about the weight gain. As long as you stick to your plan you will those same pounds just as quickly! The weight gain could be b/c of sodium retention or muscle building (I don't know if you are doing any strength train). I know my weight right now is stable and it's b/c I've taken in WAY too much salt these last couple of days..if I cut down on my sodium intake I guarantee that my weight will trend down too. Anyhoo, the advice i'm trying to impart with all my rambling is cont to have faith...as they say "If you BELIEVE, you shall ACHIEVE" lol

Tuesday:
Intake-1701kcal
Exercise-568kcal burned
Caloric Differential-(-648)

Wednesday:
Intake-1647kcal
Exercise-758kcal burned (awesomeness!!!)
Caloric Differential-(892)

Total differential for week 1: 2995kcal (goal 4417)

Everyone is doing so great!!! Let's keep up the awesome work! So I have some good news to impart, lol, not really but I'm very proud of myself. I've been stepping up my cardio routine and exercising more..anyhoo I was doing BODYATTACK tonight and I did tricep pushups on my freakin' TOES!!! I was so happy b/c it's taken me so long to get there (my upper body strength is pathetic, lol).

Anyways, I just had to share w/someone, lol. I'm a geek when it comes to exercise and it seems like that's all I do and talk about so I don't talk about working out w/my friends and fam anymore b/c sometimes I swear I can see their eyes start to roll, lol.

Hope everyone is having a fantastic week, getting in cardio, strength training, and staying on plan! We can do this!

My weight is up a couple of pounds but because of the plan I am on and the spark people (such as yourselves) I am ok with it. I know I am eating and exercising right. My weight just needs to catch up with the program.

Cheers.

Yesterday I took my two Labradors with me as I walked. The first couple of miles I had to correct them for pulling on the leashes. The last two miles I had to encourage them to get home. These guys are out of shape. They are now on my July 30 challenge. By July 30, they will be energetic until the end. Now if I can only get them on board!

Yesterday, I kind of over did things a little and I am paying the price today. I only got 1290 calories and I really worked out hard. I walked 4 minutes at 3.5 to 4 mph and ran for a minute at 6 mph on a 1 and 2 percent incline.I alternated until I had burned 300 calories. I am very tired today.

I would like to be below 200 by the fifth of August, so I'm in. That means 15.6 lbs x 3500 calories / 65 days = 840 calories per day that I need to burn or or not eat. Time to go to the gym.

Starting weight 215.6 lbs.

So just barely staying in calorie range :( my goal for tomorrow is to make a menu cycle that I can handle. My breakfast and lunch is pretty much the same it's just dinner that is the wild card. So hopefully I can get this menu set up pretty quickly so I can get tighter control of my intake. Hope everyone's week is going well and Happy Memorial Day!

Congrats Julie that is awesome! You gave me some really good ideas! I think what I will do is make myself a one week menu and see how I stick to it. Eating a healthy meal isn't the problem I eat pretty healthy just too much...my problem is that I eat a healthy dinner and then snack...it's low cal options like 94% fat free popcorn, fruit, and kashi granola bars but those calories add up really quick! I think that if I had a menu that said this is what you can eat "no mas" I might be more diligent about staying in my calorie range.

Yay for planning ahead, lol!

Hi Kim and welcome.

One of the main things that really keeps me on track calorie wise is preparing my meals ahead. Once a week I cook a large amount of meals and place them in individual serving size containers. It really helps because when I am starving I have a healthy option waiting.

This week I am making stuffed green peppers using ground turkey. I also cook up a pot of rice and measure out a half cup in each container and a half stuffed green pepper. Calories are around 250 each. I can eat a couple of these a day if I like or add to them as needed. I try to eat 6 small meals a day and if I really worked out hard I might add in another.

I'm down to 173.8 -- only 1 lb away from making it a full 10 lbs I've lost since I started SP!
This makes 9 lbs in 3 weeks -- not a bad average, 3lbs a week, right?? emoticon

I hope to make another pound or two next week. I'd like to lose 2 lbs a week faithfully. We will see! I'm going to stick to my plan, no matter what!

I would like to join this challenge! I need more motivation to stay on track w/my food! I do amazing w/exercise, but horrible w/calories...if only it was the other way around *sigh*. Here is my plan that I'm doing already:

1. Calories burned every week (via cardio): 3,500
2. Max intake: 1650-1700 (goal less than 1600kcal)
3. Create a caloric deficit of 4,417kcal/week for a 1.2# weight loss
4. Weight loss goal by July 30th: 10-11 pounds

I hope that I can make my goal! Like I said I do awesome w/exercise...I have a HRM that really motivates me to burn the cal's. Unfortunately I tend to go over my allotted intake cal's but it's usually on the weekend. I know that it's hindering my weight loss and I'm trying to stop it. My goal is to post at least every other day and I will post my intake, workout, and calorie differential. I will officially weigh in June 4th, mother nature just visited and I gotta get rid of a lot of fluid, lol.

If anyone has any suggestions on staying in calorie goal range PLEASE let me know...I tend to be pretty weak at night and have tried lots of things w/no success..i.e. drinking water, brushing teeth, calling a friend, even painting my nails (but this one was pretty successful, lol).

Good luck everyone! We can do it!!!

well done! :)

I am actually without scales for the time being - I usually weigh myself on the wii fit board but I gave it home for my little brother to borrow which is 3 hours drive away :0

I am visiting in 2 weekends time 2 weekends in a row so I think I will hold off buying a set of scales for now and focus on my exercise and hopefully if I put the right work in get a happy surprise when I weigh myself in 2 weeks.

I am going to keep going as I am on the treadmill working my way up to 45 minutes then start upping the speed as my stamina really needs worked on as when I started basically had zero! But definitley going to work in some interval training somewhere too!

I am sort of interval training too. I decided to really rev things up because of that 2 pound gain and I am adding some running minutes to my walking. I hope to add more and more until I am mostly running like I use to.

Back home after my trip to my mum's so will be back in the gym tomorrow morning...
I CAN'T WAIT!

My fitness goal for this time next week is to run 30 minutes non stop on the treadmill. Been building it up a minute at a time, now at 26!

Going to start interval training for the first time as soon as the weather gets better as I hear it is a great fat burner :) I think it will be a bit of a pain on the treadmill looking at the time, constantly adjusting the speed/hills etc.. does anyone have any interval training tips??

I know how frustrating it can be to see a gain, even when you've been so good...

When I was just starting out on the Medifast plan (this was in 2009, when I was morbidly obese and in the worst throes of pure terrible FOOD ADDICTION), there was a day when someone brought in Tat-O-Nut donuts (it's a local mom & pop donut shop back home, made with potato flour, melt in your mouth delicious!)... and I denied myself the donuts.

THEN like 2 hours later, our boss comes in and brings Krispy Kreme donuts! I still denied myself.

That morning, I had weighed myself, and although I had been sticking to the plan RIGIDLY AND STRICTLY (I'm talking, not even diet sodas, coffee, tea, or crystal light -- ONLY water, just plain!, and keeping my calories down too!)... My weight for the week had gone UP by 0.2 lbs.

I know it was only marginal but MY GOD did it hurt. I remember after having been so good, and then having that stupid little gain that morning, and THEN people bringing in one of my favorite yummy treats not once but twice... It broke me that day. I was an emotional wreck.
I felt so pathetic because I had to go to the ladies' room and cry my fat little heart out.
I couldn't believe I was crying over food -- I thought to myself "Who does this?! What kind of gross fatty mcfatness am I?!"

When I got home, I blogged about it, and someone told me in a comment... "This probably won't be the last time you'll cry over food. An addiction is just that -- a terrible beast to overcome. When your addiction is food, the tears aren't just for the food, they are for the pain and heartbreak and disappointment in oneself and everything around that feels as if it's working against you. It's just one of those things that you have to get through, and build up your strength. It will happen again, but remember -- only YOU have the power to get through it. And those of us who read your blog will be here for you to pat you on the back as you wage war with the addiction."

It stuck with me, and still does. I have since then, had gains on "good" weeks, and losses on "bad" weeks (what kind of sorcery...?!), and sure enough there have been more times when I've broken down into a teary mess over food/weight... but I'm still here, and I'm still fighting.

Never, ever give up.

Social network support groups like SparkPeople have played a key role in my success thus far in my weight loss journey. When I stopped using my support groups online, that's when I fell off the wagon, and that's when I got back into bad habits & gained weight & stopped the healthier habits I had begun (exercising, better food choices, etc).

To me, SparkPeople is crucial to my success and keeping my Spark lit.

So, as much as it royally SUCKS, when you have a gain or a bad day, come here to SP and get the support you (may not even realize you) need. It will do you a world of good.

And, next week, watch those numbers drop! If not, get a tape measure and measure yourself -- sometimes those measurements change before the scale does!

Hi folks, I learned something new today. I never thought I would say this but sometimes it has to be all about me......
I had the most hectic day today and it got worse after work.

I put my workout clothes on and started to the gym only to have someone pull into my driveway. At first I thought, "Well I can skip the gym." Then I gave my self a stern lecture. This is my time and I deserve to go to the gym.
So I asked my company if they needed to speak to right then or could we catch up later. My friend said, that's ok I have errands to run. I will stop by tomorrow. Which turned out great for my workout. (Look at me kind of taking control)
Then I got a text message from a young man I know that needed a haircut. So 40 minutes in the gym(OK I cut that a little short), 5 minute drive home, 15 minute haircut (it was a buzz cut), put dinner in the oven, then called into a telecon at work for 15 minutes.

When I finally sat down to eat I kept getting hit with demands from the family (as they had eaten while I was on the telecon)....sometimes you have to say, "Wait until I have finished my meal." (of course they were a little taken back by my selfishness HA)
WoW
Now my world is quiet and I can log in here and catch up
I hope everyone is having a wonderful day and evening.

Julie

It is so frustrating that I am losing weight at such a slow pace.

I was reading that sometimes a detox of your liver will help get the weight loss energized.

I have been on antibiotics and pain pills for a couple of weeks so that may well be the problem. I have just finished all the meds and am now back to the drug free routine. Since my pain was the result of a need for a root canal my eating was far less than usual. But non the less I lost a whopping 3 pounds in two weeks....

On an upbeat note, I am moving on.

Juliedotcom.. that sounds like a good amount of weight to lose in the time frame :) I'm sure you will be able to do it. I check in most days just to put down what I have acheived and how i feel about it!

I had my birthday which I did about 6 different thngs for but still managed to stay on track, and definitely know it is down to being accountable now for what I am eating and how I am exercising!

Getting down to the 130s has really helped as I don't want to go back up to the 140s, tracking is the way forward! (for me anyway)

Good luck :)

I needed a challenge and this one seems very timely.

I am going to lose 15 pounds by the end of July. In that time frame I have a business trip and a vacation so there in lies the real challenge. Now I have this support group to motivate me! I really hesitated to put an actual number to the pounds I want to lose. By typing that in, I feel I am committed.

well done for your curves workout!

I have a pussycat dolls workout dvd with me, I think I will do it tomorrow morning, not a fan of workout dvd really but don't want to lose track when not at the gym..

I like the body test I used to do it everyday to keep me accountable but I use spark more for that now with logging fitness and food etc. I used to use it alot more when I couldn't get to the gym so much but as my fitness has improved I prefer more strenuous workouts. I think I will keep it up at my mums (its a 3 hour drive from mine) so I have something to do when visiting. I like the wii fit but when I lost about a stone using it I started to find it quite boring and repetitive. Definitley has its uses though. What do you think of it? What is the zumba for the wii like? I have done a few classes of it before!

I love my treadmill too. At one time I was up to running on it, but have gradually slacked off. I want to make it a regular habit again.
Today I burned off 302 calories at Curves. Hit my target on every machine and got all green!!!!
I have wii fit too and got Zumba for wii not too long ago. How do you like your wii fit?

Thats a completely acheiveable target! I started off at 145 and now down to 137, I am glad to see I am finally shifting the weight I have needed to for years.

I love the treadmill. I am just building up on it but now managing 3.3 km in 26 minutes, going to build up to 45 then work on getting the speed up!

I am visiting my family just now so can't go to the gym but got my medicine ball with me and got a wii fit here so that will suffice for the time being ....!!!

To get there, I am keeping in my calorie range and burning off at least 250 calories a day in exercise. May 20th and 21st, I burned 300 calories each day on my treadmill.

I'm going to keep my challenge going as this is a challenge to me and it helps me rememeber my goal and stay accountable for it each day. Would be great if others joined me too if you have a target for round about this time.

Today I managed a grand 3km in 25 minutes on the treadmill. I found it a complete slog but so proud I did it! Never had so much sweat down my back in my whole entire life. 10/10

I did 20 minutes on the bike - recovery as my legs felt like jelly after my run.. Before I would have just finished my cardio after the treadmill so I am glad I did something else. I did 5 minutes on the eliptical, now that I could have done so much more of. I really hope I get to like that machine 2/10 for that poor effort.

Couldn't get near a mat it was so busy so came home and did various core exercises, 600 reps in all ... definitley a TEN/TEN for that one. I never usually have the motivation at home.

Felt like I ate loads today, but not failed in any part of my nutrition so very happy with that, a bad day eating today would have been a brilliant day for the old me. I think my habits are FINALLY changing.

Gym tonight was slightly dissapointing! Was hoping to up my 20minute non stop run to 30 but became really out of breath at barely 15 minutes. Think this was all psychological as knew that was only half way instead of 5 minutes left. Think I'll up it a minute at a time everyday instead :-$

There is always tomorrow!

Rest of workout was i'd say a 6/10.

Join me if you would like to track how you are getting on!

Hi!

I have a HUGE event happening on the 30th July that I would like to look and feel amazing for.

I thought I would make it a challenge page and see if anyone else has a goal for this date and we could help motivate each other along the way, prehaps with some mini nutrition and fitness challenges thrown in or just charting how we are getting on.

My goal for this date is to weigh 120lbs. I am going to be reunited with my amazing boyfriend and I am looking forward to him seeing a big change in me. But thats going to take some work!

I'm going to weigh myself weekly and track all my food/exercise on my page to keep myself accountable.

S/W 138lbs
G/W 120lbs
