Yes Snooper9 I agree. Let's keep it going. I am down 7.4 lbs since Sept 9. But I think our challenge started on Oct 1st; emoticon I got myself lost and couldn't find my way back to the right board but now I'm ready to go. I've been reading your messages to catch up and I want to be part of this group. I need the support and I'm committed to supporting the rest of you too! Thanks for your ideas on the menu - I just made some health-smart banana raisin oat muffins and apparently they're 165 calories each! Only 1/2 c of sugar in there. How many calories do you think are in yours do you know. emoticon Are we posting our weight once a week (I personally do not like weighin more than once/wk).

Yesterday was the beginning of my 30 pound weight loss. I did well up until after dinner. My goal today is to make it through the whole day without messing up. Actually, today is the beginning of my new weight goal. I will be one day late, but better late than never. Please wish me luck.

I'm in. Just started on SparkPeople Monday, the day I officially began my weight loss commitment. I am a 43 yr old mom of 3 great kids. I gained a LOT of weight with each kid and after the first two lost it each time. The third was different; I gained the weight and haven't been successful in getting it off and with some added stress in my life the last few years I've added even more. I have about 90 pounds to lose. :( But everyone has to start somewhere. 30 pounds by the end of the year is VERY ambitious, but wow would it be great to get there and motivating to have as a goal. Nice to *meet* you all. Bek

I'm on day 2 of my fitness streak, doing Wii Fit. It's a lot of fun and often feels like I haven't been exercising because it's so fun. My kids like to challenge me and join me in my workouts too, which makes it even more fun. Also have started to do some interval training as my sister and I are planning to do a 5K in November, which I am intending to run the majority of. The wii fit said I was down 1.3kg today (2.86 pounds). Woot! It helps to avoid those nasty temptations to eat unhealthy snacks.

Lets see besides eating a diabetic diet I eat a bran muffin twice a day,I make them easy
Buy a 7oz pkg Martha White Honey Bran muffin mix ya just add milk,I used skim milk. The batter is runny but makes great 7 or 8 muffins. Then I put them in the freezer in a plastic bag. they never freeze solid so thier a nice cold treat for me. I crave sweets so grab 6 or 7 red seedless grapes for that.I do a Taebo workout basic every other day. and I eat oatmeal every morning.1/2 cup makes 1 cup and with skim milk about 190 cal I think the biggest thing is I have variety I don"t have the same meal except for breakfast every day. I eat shrimp cooked with pam, roterissori chicken breast, Lean Quisene Rigatoni which is awesome,Turkey bacon and saus ,I boil one egg,add my 10 cal mayo and make me a egg salad that I let get cold on w/w flat bread total cal 194 I buy them little cans of beets, limas,I buy Seasoned cabbage by Margaret Holmes Boy is that good and only 35 cal and 7 carbs. Hope this helps? Sherry

Hi, my name is Scherita and I'm 32 years old. I've been on this weight loss roller coaster off and on for years. This challenge is reasonable and 10lbs a month is doable. I have more than 30 lbs to lose, but it is a push in the right direction. I love having mini challenges and think we should throw some in every now and then to keep us motivated.

Oct 1st would be a good starting point.

I'm recommitting to my weight loss goals. I have been doing the yo-yo thing all year and I want to stop! Please help me stay motivated. :(

I want to work out on a regular basis and lose 30+ by 2012!

I would like to join this challenge as well. I was just at the doctor's last week and found out that I am also pre-diabetic. I am so tired of saying that I am going to do something about my weight but then don't. It's high time I begin to start a streak. My goal is to exercise at least 10 minutes every day and add some strength training, with weights as well, as my doctor says that will help with the weight loss too. My long-term goal is to lose 120 pounds, so this will be a great springboard goal for me. Best wishes to the rest of you. emoticon

I would like to join this challenge. My goal was to lose 40 lbs. I am down 5 lbs so far. I think it is good to be held accountable by a challenge. I am in. I'm trying to make sure I do some exercise everyday. I would like to challenge you all in that way. Even 10 minutes helps - it's 10 you wouldn't otherwise do. I think everyone could take turns doing a challenge??

Hi, my name is Marsha and I am 59 years old. In December, I will turn 60. I see this as a big milestone. A chance to finally get the weight off. I would love to be a part of this challenge. I joined the site in July, and I'm still learning my way around. There is so much information! The weight for me is going slowly. This seems like the perfect challenge. With your help, surely I will be able to lose 10 pounds a month for the next 3 months, at least I will give it my best shot! Thirty pounds will put me down to 200 pounds. Haven't been there in a long time.

I'm game for a challenge! I lost 20 pounds earlier this year, and I need to take it up a notch to get anymore off apparently. I have another 65 to go. I'm 32, and I don't have a puppy. I do, however, have a 5 year old. :)

Hello Ginger, Sue and Heather,

COUNT ME IN!!!!!

I'm so excited to find this challenge group!

I just (9/11/11) got back on my sparkpage and recommitted to eating for nutrition and adding exercise to drop 40-50lbs.

I did in 1999 drop 50 lbs in 2 1/2 months thru stress, but I know that is not a good way to do it again.....since I regained and hit all time new high weight in may 2010 of 204lbs.
9/11/11 starting weight 187lbs.

I'm 46, hormonally challenged the last 4 months, and much else going on, but it's now the time to stop saying I'm gonna and actually do it - put in to daily practice all the healthful things I know I should be doing.

Thanks for starting this challenge Ginger.

What a great idea for a challenge - Ginger . I am in - I do much better with some accountability than without. There are at least two of us on this journey !! Come on folks - think about what a great new years celebration you could have if you joined and accomplished this goal - heck - you should feel great about even trying something like this. Sure - it's an aggresive goal - but tackling something like this can only make you stronger - make it or not - you will be proud of yourself for trying.

My Starting weight - 9/9/2011 is 208.4
My Goal Weight for 12/31/2011 is 178.4- Wow - that will be so cool.

My name is Sue - I am a 59 year old woman and I have been overweight since I was 10 or 11 years old. The last time I saw 200 was probably when I was about 19 years old. I have done a lot of work on myself and am determined to overcome this long term problem.

So - the white dog in my Picture is Bo - he is my morning exercise buddy and everyday before work we go for a mile and a half walk. Now we are training for the virtual 5k - he does not quite get the concept that there is no more stop and sniff for the 5K - but we will get there.

Hi everybody,

Forgive me if this is posted in the wrong forum, I am a bit overwhelmed by the site... I'm recommitting to weight loss. I lost 50 pounds several years ago and gained it plus a bit more back.

I have some strong reasons for wanting to get healthy now, and I want to begin by losing 30 pounds by 2012. It's an ambitious goal, and I could definitely use a group of people to stay motivated with me!

Some stuff about me that you may have in common (or not! that is fine too as long as you are friendly): I am 35, have a new puppy dog that keeps me busy, live with my sweetie in Vancouver, BC, play recreational soccer, enjoy writing and hope to start a family next year sometime.

Let me know if you want to share this journey with me!

-Ginger
