I am in the same boat as you are...I have been working out like crazy and been in a calorie deficit, but still saw no weight loss, also a 4 lb gain. But, I have not let it deter me. Trying to keep my chin up, it will show up later how much hard work I have put in. But it does upset me a little. Just gotta hang in there!

What you're experiencing is perfectly normal. it's nothing more than a temporary water weight gain. ever notice your weight goes up during TOM ? Most women tend to "gain" weight during their menstrual cycle. Is that a fat gain ? Nope, it's nothing more than a temporary water weight gain that passes in a few days.
I can gain or lose as much as 3-4 pounds in a day because of a shift in my water weight.
Also, not to get TMI, but did you weigh yourself before a bowel movement ? your body's waste products have weight. So, if you don't do a poop in the morning, the physical weight of all the food you ate the day before is still in your intestines. Try this some time. Weigh yourself before and after you have a bowel movement. did you lose weight ? YES ! Did you lose fat ? NOPE.
these types of water fluctuations really are normal and nothing to freak out about. you're going to see many ups and downs as you lose.

Remember your weight is not a constant number--in fact it can fluctuate by as much as 7-9 pounds in the course of a single day. Anything from your diet to your hydration, workouts even hormones can affect this number in a big way. But don't let this deter you. And please don't consider cutting your calories even more so.
It is difficult to say because there are so many factors as to the rate at which one loses...things such as genetics, current body composition, current level of fitness, intensity of the exercise, etc. Other factors that affect the scale include the weight of the food and liquid you just ate, the last time you used the restroom, water retention, hormonal changes, clothing and more.
Hang in there and know that the steps you are taking are moving you in the direction of better help.
