Alcohol is a hard one...
I'd echo what some of predecessors in the convo have said, keep it to one night a week. Although beware of letting it carry over into the next day. When I have a hangover I tend to eat garbage the next day.

The liquor vs beer argument is straight forward in favor of liquor if you only count the calories, but when you are going out there are far more factors you need to take in account. Like if there is food with the drinks I would choose a light beer as you normally drink while you eat. But if you are just out at a club then the liquor might be better but more costly. Another thing to remember to limit yourself either way... I try to stick to just one drink per hour and justify it by needing to be half way sober to still be able to drive later...

Yeah, I certainly feel a lot less "bloated" today after sticking to the bourbon instead of downing 8 whole beers, and I did eat a bit too much in the evening.
I agree that I should keep the sessions down to one a week. That'll be the key for me moving forward.

Generally speaking whiskey and vodka are far less calories than beer. Bang for your buck, stick to those.
However, I try to limit my "sessions" to no more than 1 per week. The problem with them isn't so much alcohol calories, it's the add on food calories I seem to consume during and the 24 hours following.

One night out for drinks isn't going to break you, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Going out too often can kill your diet though as it's more than just calories you need to worry about.

I'm sure this has been talked about to death, but wanted to get some fresh ideas from you guys.
Last night I went out with a coworker after work and had about five bourbon on the rocks, then 3 Amstel lights. Altogether it amounted to about 850 calories, which doesn't seem too bad all things considered.
I did my best to keep the calories down as much as possible, but I'm wondering if there's more I could have done. Are vodka sodas less calories than whiskey? Would sticking with light beer work best?
