There are some foods that have natural diuretic properties.
I got the following from the University of Maryland Medical Center. Natural diuretic vegetables include asparagus, parsley, beets, grapes, green beans, leafy greens, pineapple, pumpkin, onion, leeks, and garlic.
So if you are eating a couple of pounds of leeks and pineapple for dinner, you might want to eat those earlier in the day....
But really, talking to your doctor is a good idea.

Ok thanks, I figured it be tough to tell over the internet haha. The tea I'm drinking is an herbal tea. The sleepytime brand makes an herbal apples and cinnamon flavor that is mellow and uncaffenated. The only thing I can think of is I have started to watch my sodium intake a little. I've maybe brough it down from an average of 3,500g a day to 2,500. I figure that's just something smart to do. Since sodium holds onto water, maybe that could be it? But my levels still go over the recommended values about half the days so it's not like I'm low on it at all.
And I have sleep paralysis. Not sure if this is the reason I also have trouble falling asleep or not, but I've talked to docs about it and they feel any sort of sleep aid, even an all natural one, will make my paralysis episodes worse and more frequent so unfortunately something like that is out.

After four months, your body should have adjusted to the increase in water intake. But, have you been under any usual stress recently ? Excess stress and anxiety could cause problems with sleep as well as bathroom habits.
What kind of tea are you drinking ? are you drinking a highly caffeinated tea like English Breakfast ? You might consider trying an herbal tea like chamomile or peppermint. neither has caffeine. Caffeine is a diuretic. So, if you've been drinking caffeinated tea. That would explain the evening bathroom breaks.
Otherwise, when is the last time you visited the doctor ? If these are unusual symptoms you have not experienced in past, it wouldn't hurt to get a professional opinion. Something "medical" could be the cause. You could also talk to them about your fractured sleep patterns too.

Hey all, so this is a new (last 2-3 weeks) problem for me. I'm not sure why it came up. I've been getting up to go to the bathroom once or twice a night, and it really sucks becuase I have problems enough with falling asleep, so waking up and getting out of bed means I lay awake for at least 30 min again after getting back.
I'm not sure why this is a problem all of a sudden. I've been drinking a lot of water throughout the day now for about 4 months and this is the first I've had this bathroom issue. I normally stop drinking around 8 or 9. If I stop before then I find that I have issues with warding off late night snacking. I also have a cup of hot tea just before bed. I really enjoy it and it helps calm me and fall asleep a little better. Again, these are the same drinking habits I've had for the past 4 months, but it has just now become a problem. Any ideas?
