Thanks for sharing this info..I have been contemplating getting the book. This helps me to do it...keep pushing forward one day at a time....you can do it....

Thank you so much for those book titles i will definatly check my local library and see if they have them!! and check out youtube!! I have really struggled to stay in the mind frame it has been really hard!!!!

Do this for yourself.
I never bothered to buy the book since I was sure there was nothing in it that wasn't already on the web site. But, I have gotten a lot out of reading Judith Beck PhD "The BECK Diet Solution" as she has been slim for over 20yrs. She is a professor at the U. of Pa. She teaches how to THINK like a THIN person.
Roger Gould, M.D. "SHRINK YOURSELF" has a wonderful book if u r an emotional eater. He says we have to learn to deal with STRESS or we will never keep the weight off.

Watch the four part HBO Documentary on YOUTUBE "The Weight of the Nation" and learn a great deal. Seeing a FATTY LIVER is what has gotten me determined to be slim again. I have to much belly fat at 62 and I am determined to get it off now.

I have been apart of sparkpeople for two years now, but i have never really taken it to heart. I have even bought "The Spark" book. When i first got the book I read(or schemed) the book for short term motivation. But the last couple of days i have really set down to READING the book, and I have come to find out that i see so much of what my problem is and how to get out of this rut. I have had the attitude of going about changing my life by thinking i was changing my life when really i was changing at the moment not for the long haul. I have always had excuses for why i can eat this if i exercise this much. I have constantly tell myself that i can make up for eating this today by not doing it tomorrow and then when tomorrow comes i do it all over again. But I am feeling that i don't want to live like this anymore. I have two young boys that i want to be more active with, and I want to be an "outisde" person as i call myself. I want to be more active, live a more active life, and making myself accountable to myself. I AM THE ONE WHO HAS THE POWER TO CHANGE MYSELF!! and even though it may have taken this long I am looking at sparkpeople in a NEW light for ME!! To know that i have all the tools that i need right in front of me all this time and realizing that I am the one who has been holding myself back all along. But i have a new attitude and a new willpower to make better decisions one small setp at a time! I am super excited to be starting this journey in my life..............BETTER LATE THAN NEVER :)
