Another thing that might be causing you to retain water is the heat. Do you live in an area where is has been really hot lately? I tend to retain water in the heat -- and I have noticed it over the past 2 weeks as my experienced a heat wave. My weight has fluctuated up and down by about 2 pounds recently as I retained and release the water weight -- fluctuated more than usual even though my dietary and exercise patterns have not changed significantly.

Any time you start a new exercise program, your muscles tend to retain water. That can cause a temporary increase on the scale, which is likely what you're experiencing. Just hang in there!

There is an uneven progress for many of us. Like some of the other posters, I find a big issue with sodium so avoid it as much as I can. Because I am 62, I eat toward the lower end of my calorie range and am meticulous about measuring portions (that was a real revelation to me at first!)

Your body is fighting you a little bit... be patient, do healthy things and it will fall into place. You can measure things like fewer aches and pains, better fitting clothes, even better sleep. Hang in there!

Considering my activity level is not very high i may need to readjust my calorie intake, and I am losing weight because of self esteem/heart problems. Thanks for the suggestions guys ^_^ and I am keeping my salt intake pretty low, i have been checking that on foods as well.

Is it salt/sodium? If you decided to eat dill pickles all day for example that could do it.

Also, may want to try an electronic scale to more accurately measure your portions.

That is normal for me. I get on plataeus for about 2 to 3 months before there is a change. It is frustrating when my necklace hangs lower but my pant size does not change. My ankles are smaller but not my butt.

Just keep trying. It will make a difference. Are you also losing weight for medical reasons like lower blood pressure? Maybe you can look to that change first.

I was on a plateau for 2 weeks and then I figured out I really can't eat over 1200 calories a day if I want to lose. My calorie range says 1200-1500 calories....well that may work for lot of people, but considering my metabolism and fitness activity just can't. So, just wanted to share this...may be one of the possible reasons you're not getting results. Good luck.

And no blood work done, its not my thyroid though because i had it checked a while back.

Well i am eating some fruits, but i always put them into my nutrition tracker. I have been trying to drink the 8 glasses a day but usually end up with around 6.....So far every day I have been far below my limit.....

Are you drinking water, eating too much fruit, what exactly is your meal plan??
Before you started did you have blood work done??
Usually when I don't lose it's because I'm eating something I'm not supposed to.

So I have been on this diet,calorie counting thing for a week now, I have been exercising....but I have actually gained like 4 pounds???.....anyone else have this issue? Or know why its happening?
