Protein and also vitamin C are helpful in healing injury. Perhaps just healing in general. I hope you get to full recovery soon.

I always crave McD's chicken nuggets and fries when I'm sick. I had a lung infection in July and I made my boyfriend go get them for me a few times, even though we have no McD's near our house LOL

No idea what causes it though... maybe since your body is going through a lot it is craving good fuel, like protein?

Yeah. I read a few things that talked about the need for electrolytes and whatnot, but that just doesn't seem to be the case for me this time. I haven't been particularly hungry in general, but there has been a distinct craving for lean protein of any kind. Chicken and protein bars have done the trick. It's just weird.

It's also possible that since I work out and lift quite a bit (and try to get quite a bit of protein as a result), my body is simply noticing the lack of protein more than anything else. And maybe since I haven't been to the gym this week my muscles are in full-on recovery mode? No clue...

Ruth - any particular protein? On the rare occasion I have stomach flu I crave McD's French fries. My body must need sodium. Perhaps yours needs protein.

I've had a bad cold this week and, oddly, I've been craving protein like crazy.

Anyone have a sense of what causes this sort of thing? Has anyone else experienced that kind of craving while ill?
