I gave it up for 4 months then slipped up & had Coke Zero(my favorite). I am now back to no soda. We will see how long this one lasts. I don't beat myself up, I just get back on track.

My favorite is Diet Pepsi which I limit it to about 1-2 a week. It is my dessert and works when I crave a dessert! emoticon

Not drinking soda, I only drink Diet and almost always Diet Pepsi, is not one of my fast break goals but I did set an "other" goal of not drinking more than 32 oz a day (I've drank a gallon plus in a day at times). I can quit all together if I really want. I quit for a couple years about 10 years ago just because I was trying to be healthier. I also quit for a year when I decided to start trying to get pregnant and through my 2nd trimester. I did have start again in my third trimester but only a couple cans a week until after I quit breastfeeding when my daughter was almost 4 months old. After I quit breastfeeding I just started drinking more and more all the time. My biggest issue with drinking the pop is I don't drink enough other fluids and get dehydrated and have all the issues that come with that. Part of me really wants to quit but part of me doesn't. Pop is kind of my coping mechanism. I very rarely drink alcohol, I don't smoke or use drugs, the soda is my one vice, my thing and it is hard letting go. I have a lot of stress and changes going on in my life right now and I just want something that makes me feel good. I know I should quit and that I should find better coping skills but it is really hard.

If you like soda, then I wouldn't set unreasonable goals by depriving yourself of it!

I used to have a Coke (not even diet) every friggin' day. My one New Year's resolution for 2012 was to "drink less soda" and I ended up almost completely giving it up. (Okay, I still have a Dr. Brown's Black Cherry soda on special occasions.) It's the best thing I've done for myself since I quit smoking. Hang in there, and drink lots of water and iced tea instead!

You can do it!

Japanese proverb: Fall down seven times, get back up eight.

This doesn't give you free reign to do whatever you want, but that when you do make a mistake, you dust yourself off and start again.

Keep going, and perhaps take this opportunity to see if you can see why you drank the soda. Journalling is a great way to track your thoughts, and to see what was going on around you when you decided that the soda was more important than your FastBreak goals.

Never quit on yourself - you are worth the effort!

I stopped pop cold turkey. Sure I had cravings for it, but i figured it was the carbonation i liked so i switched to carbonated water so I got my fizz. Now I stopped that as well and can drink just plain water.

Yesterday I joined up for Spark People and decided that one of my Fast Breaks would be to stop drinking soda. I don't drink a lot of it, but today, I ended up having a soda. I feel like I have already cheated myself. Did anyone else break their fast break, and if so, how did you fix it/hold yourself accountable?
