Without some physical activity I think it is easier to get off track. Exercise really helps with weight loss but it provides so many other great benefits as mentioned in the posts below.

It could work but it's going to be a very slow process. Your calories are going to be very low and I think that would be hard to maintain. Now that I'm exercising I feel great and losing about 2lbs a week!

without exercise you will eat at the lower end of the scale. Working out is so good for the heart and lungs. It is also good for the self esteem. I think that if you don't workout you are missing out on a lot. I so do love my workouts. Without exercise you will lose weight but it will take you a lot longer to do it.

I don't exercise as much as I should. The weight did drop the fastest in the summer with heat my I am not hungry. I also get a lot more exercise, even if it is just moving around as it is day light out longer.

I feel like exercise has made me more successful in my weight loss and it makes me feel good about myself, even if it's hard and tiring and sometimes you really don't feel like doing it. In all reality, it's not THAT difficult. And when I exercise I look and feel better. emoticon

I find I can't stick with healthy eating if I'm not exercising. It is that little bit of body awareness that keeps me in check.

Metabolism is also influenced by muscle mass and exercise. The body is designed to react to fewer calories by slowing calorie burn so that we can survive food shortages. I would think that reducing calories alone would show much slower results.

I do exercise daily, 30mins to 1 hour, yet I'm not a lover of any of it, thinking after many years it would become something I would learn to love. Still waiting on that love. See some people breath exercise, wonder why it hasn't happened for me yet.

It can work. A healthy lifestyle is 80% nutrition, 20% exercise. You can't out exercise a bad diet. Personally, I enjoy exercising because I can eat more and it helps relieve stress, and improves my over all physical condition. I honestly think you can't do one without the other.

If you are eating less than your body is using, you will lose weight, regardless of whether you're exercising or not. The problem with this is that without exercise, you cannot eat as much, and the weight you lose will come from muscle more than fat. This is something I have to constantly remind myself because I hate exercising, but I know I need to if I want to get fit and healthy. Exercise is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle, and it can be fairly easy to fit some into your daily routine.

Does the sparkpeople diet plan work if you don't exercise...e.g. can you still meet your goal weight by eating healthy alone?
