You need about 400 micrograms of folate/folic acid daily.
I checked parsley, oregano, thyme, basil....these only contain about 0 - 5 micrograms in a 1 teaspoon-1 tablespoon amount.
I would not rely on herbs like these to meet folate need.
Can you share more about the content in the e-mail that you referenced, and I can check more.

Thanks Becky. I'm not so worried about it now as I'm starting to learn about good folate sources and make them a regular part of my diet. Also someone kindly sent me a Sparkmail giving me lots of useful information and saying that dried herbs were a good source. I often cook with herbs and drink a lot of different herbal teas, so as you say, I am probably getting a lot more folate than it seems.

You are probably getting more folate than your report shows.
Folate is not one of the nutrients that "must" be listed on a food label---so some entries do not contain the folate amount, even though the food does have folate.

No matter how hard I try to eat a healthy diet, when I fill in my food tracker, I always seem to be short of folate. It's not so bad if I'm at home, since I try to follow the suggested menu plan. I'm quite new to Sparkpeople and I'm finding that whenever I plan my own day's eating, especially if I am eating out, then I am low in folate. It is hard to add in good folate foods without going over my targets in calories or carbohydrates. I would welcome any help in choosing folate rich foods.
