Personally I wouldn't bother the staff with things like that.

It is a bit annoying that you can't delete your own posts, but you just do what you did - you edit it down to something like "never mind" and just leave it as that. It'll drop off the older posts eventually, as nobody would have anything to say in response to keep it 'alive'.

It's not worth "deleting", really.

Click on "report inappropriate post" and ask them to delete it. It might take a few minutes, but they'll do it. Internet message boards generally don't let anyone but their own paid staff actually delete a thread.
