I think as long as you have you Sparkpeople App which is free you can get through any restaurant menu. You know what you should avoid and what words scream red flag. Just look for the cleanest healthiest option and drink heaps of water (extra water ) to offset all the extra salt and fat they use...or better yet, stand up for your goals and ask for what you want. When I travel now I buy oatmeal and easy healthy options to make in my hotel room, bring along protein bars, etc so incase there isn't something close by that I have something healthy to tide me over. Most restaurants will make you a big salad and. Grilled chicken breast if you ask...even in different countries...at least that's hat I hav found.

You might consider avoiding Apple products in light of worker abuse in China.

I agree. The iPod Touch or some kind of smart phone would work. I just go the Samsung Galaxy S III and it does all that and more.

Currently iphones have more apps available than Android or Windows...but any cell phone with internet access will give you the ability to look up restaurant menus on websites.

Maybe you can surf and look at different calorie counting apps and sites and decide which one you like best. Then you can buy the type of phone that supports (runs) that site.

It depends on how much you are willing to spend. A phone that allows internet access will do it for you. You might also like a Droid tablet or iPad device. It will allow internet access. Bigger screen means easier to use but harder to carry around.

I do all my SP stuff on a Motorola Xoom tablet. Tracking nutrition is a little annoying on my phone but it is possible.

You will love having a portable device!

soemthing that I can take on the road that will be small enough to fit in my hand with the following capabilities: Allows me to look at different restaurants fairly quickly for menu listings with calories. Then will allow me to have a way of subtracting my daily calorie allotment of 1500. I have a very basic cell phone so I would be willing to go to one of these app. types. Any suggestions?

Thanks.
