WELCOME JO! Nice to have you with us! I love my Sparkworld, and so will you!

I am 55 years young, but my last name is Young, so that will keep me "forever young"

Sorry to hear about the pain in your hips from arthritis. I had back/SI joint injury for awhile, it is hard when you can't exercise at all. I suggest, do 10 min a day every day with arm exercises. This will get you in the habit of at least 10 min streak a day of exercises. Maybe you can try exercises in a chair until you are able to walk a little more.

Here are tips I put together to share with each new Sparkperson I meet. I hope it will be a help to you as you work toward reaching your goals!

First of all, think about creating a Sparkpage or if you have the setting for private, edit it to public. Great place to send you encouragement, support and Sparkgoodies! It is also the place you can keep us updated on reaching your goals!
To create your Sparkpage, you will see a link to create one on your START page. The "Create Profile/SparkPage" link is located in the "My Community" section, which is in the upper right area of the Start Page. You just click on that link and then follow the step-by-step instructions to setup your Page.

The site can be overwhelming, take your time. Learn one topic at a time, when you get comfortable with it, move on to another area of the site. Soon you will be using all the tools SP has to offer, and loving it!

If you get stuck, and have a technical question about the site, here is a link to the Customer Support Team that is eager to help you:
http://www.sparkpeople.com/community/hel
p_support.asp
(only technical questions, if you have a nutrition, fitness, or health question, post the question in the Forums, other Spark members will eagerly try to help you!

Use your Spark Points (click on view SparkPoints) as a map to the site. It is a good way to learn your way around and you can earn points to send yourself or others Sparkgoodies.

Go back to your Start Page if you get lost, you can get almost anywhere from there.

Be sure to use the nutrition tracker. You can ensure you are getting the proper nutrients as well as tracking your caloric intake and this is so important to any weight loss journey.

Never "diet" again! Keep focusing on living a healthier lifestyle!

Read the book, THE SPARK for guidance, motivation and inspiration!

Log on everyday to stay focused!

NEVER QUIT!! NEVER GIVE UP!
THINK POSITIVE! If you have a bad day, let it go.
Wake up to a new day, fresh start!

One of my favorite SP quotes (from BobbyD31)
"Remember we all have Setbacks:
ACCEPT it, HANDLE it, and MOVE ON!

Remember, this is a LIFETIME JOURNEY!!

The online community on the site is wonderful! We are all here to offer support when you need it, and celebrate your successes with you. Any type of interest you have, there will be a Sparkteam for it!

Stop by my Sparkpage anytime and let me know how you are doing! I would love to hear from you!

Enjoy your journey to a healthier you!

Have FUN along the way!

Hi Jo.

I recently discovered some WONDERFUL frozen entrees by different brands.
They are all natural, some organic, and tasty.

I shop Kroger's.
Healthy Choice has some 100% natural entrees.
www.healthychoice.com/healthy-lunches-natu
rals

I paid under $2.00 each - on sale last week.
Very good and diet friendly.

Stroll the Freezer sections and read some labels.
There is really no need to spend a lot of time 'cooking' anymore with all the natural, great-tasting entrees available.

Good Luck

Hi Jo and welcome to Spark People where you will find lots of information and tons of support and encouragement from all our members. You will find that we also have fun along the way. Drink your 8-8oz glasses of water a day (If you only drink one now, add to as you are able until you are drinking your 8 cups or more a day), watch your portion control (measure everything in the beginning...guaranteed it will get easier) and walk, dance or do any exercise you enjoy (start with 10 minutes a day or several times a day and add to it as you are able or have time). Use your fitness and nutrition tracker daily (guaranteed to work if you use them consistently and honestly). Pick one thing to change...one thing at a time. Don't try to change to many things at once as that can be very overwhelming. Just try to take one step, one minute, one hour, one day, one week at a time. They honestly will all add up to the bigger numbers. These tips will definitely help in lowering your numbers and increasing your ability to enjoy life. Don't expect miracles right away...this is a lifestyle change not a diet. You will be much healthier in the long run. Post any concerns, comments or questions you may have and someone will respond quickly.
Start each day with a positive thought just for that day. Reading and reflecting on an inspirational thought or message before you start your day can put you in a positive frame of mind.
Your thoughts determine whether you have a good day or a bad day. Fill your mind with positive ideas, suggestions, and thoughts. You will find it will change your attitude and changing your attitude can change your life.
Sometimes just reading an inspirational quote or a short paragraph helps one see the positive in a situation. Sometimes as your day progresses you just need to take a break...Take a mental break and read or think about a message of inspiration.
Never underestimate your power to change and improve! You are a good person, with wonderful qualities, and you can reach your goals!
Set up your Spark page so that we can visit and get to know you, send you spark goodies, and leave encouraging and supportive comments to help you along the way.
If I can be of any help to you, please let me know with a spark mail or a comment on my page. I am here for you.
God bless you on your journey to a healthier you.
Hugs,
Helen

Hi there. My name is Jo. I am 50 years young.
I've been on here for a short time and can't seem to get motivated. I live alone. My job wears me down and when I get home, I just don't feel like cooking.
I am doing okay, but suffer with arthritis in my hips, so even walking around the block is painful and aggravates the pain.

Suggestions anyone?

Thanks for your support.
Jo
