"Can someone confirm that a calorie controlled diet can really work?!"

Weight loss is 80% what you eat and how much you eat.
So yes... that is confirmation!

I lost 50 lbs and have kept it off for 3 or 4 years now on eating right and exercising. There's nothing I've cut out of my diet permanently either.

Work to lose what you'd like before the wedding, but do not under any circumstances buy your wedding dress at a smaller size than what you try on, it is a guaranteed recipe for distaster and stress. If you lose weight between buying the dress and the wedding, you get alterations done.
