Thanks everyone for the wonderful advise and the encouragement to keep it up! I hope to be making life changes and not just dieting. Going to keep at it though

Yes...I have not only given up soda and sweets, but I also have been exercising 4-5 days per week and still don't feel like I have lost any weight. It's a bit disheartening but I am still doing it anyhow. I seem to be losing inches, so I guess that's good.

Nice job! It's true the often times in the beginning the weight comes off faster than expected.

Great JOB! It's always good to see results like that. Just make sure that you understand that you probably will not see that all the time. My first month I lost 10 pounds the next 3 months I only lost 8 altogether so 18 pounds in 4 months. At first trying to understand how it took me 3 months to lose 8 pounds when I had lost 10 my first month was hard but I keep saying I didnt put it on over night its not going to come off overnight. Set little goals and keep working!

Results like that are a great motivator. I lost 5 pounds my first week and it is totally normal to see a big loss the first week. Aim for 1 - 2 pounds loss going forward and enjoy your success!!

I have been dieting and excercising for a week, I didnt want to jinx myself so I was kinda worried about weighing myself! But I took the plunge and did it, and from what the scale said I lost 2-3lbs. I dont know if thats possible for my first week? But I did make me feel good.
