I got the shot at my mom's urging, because she has known a few people who had very painful cases of shingles. I wasn't 60, and I got it at the health dept. for a low charge, before they learned the "over 60" rule, when the vaccine was new. My husband went later, and he was told he couldn't get it til he's 60!

I'd get it if I were you.

I am almost 60 and in South Dakota you can't get the shot till your over 60, I am debating as every time I get the flu shot I get the flu, and they said thats impossible but I get it every time, so last year I did not get the flu shot and did not get the flu, but I heard the shingles is quite painful and an older lady I was told I knew died from them and my friend in SD got them had them for a year and said she wish she had gotten the shot, has anyone had the shot and is it a good idea do you think?
