Wish I could find the picture, but a few years ago, my mother made a skeleton entirely out of various sliced veggies. Very cute and healthy.
You can put out a bowl of hummus with carrot "fingers" sticking up out of it (sliced almonds make great fingernails).
You can make quesadillas with small corn tortillas and cut out a jack-o-lantern face from the top tortilla.
You can use english muffins or small pitas for mini pizzas, use olives for eyes and put narrow strips of cheese across the muffin "face" for a mummy:

My suggestions: bake small apples with some spices (shrunken heads!), take the easy 2 ingredient recipe of 1can canned pumpkin & either a box of spice cake mix (pumpkin muffins) or devils food cake (more of a brownie feel) & make in to mini muffins. http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-de tail.asp?recipe=2079125 sugar free jello or pudding with gummi worms would be silly fun sliced pears & apples with lowfat caramel sauce, vanilla or honey yogurt with cinnamon mixed in, or nut/seed butter for dipping.

BALANCE-4-ME, I love your personal affirmations to prevent cheating with halloween candy! I'm going to use those too!!! Last year i totally ate too much halloween candy. Bought it too early and then couldn't resist it sitting there. NOT THIS YEAR!

I just made some purple potato chips and sweet potato chips. The orange and purple look pretty Halloweenish to me. They're tasty and healthy. I don't put salt on mine and there's no oil or anything either.

Pumpkin seeds? :) They have tons of calories but are high in protein and good fats.
Pears are great in the fall, as well as apples. Just be sure to use an ascorbic acid (vit.C) bath to avoid browning if you're slicing fruits ahead of time. Of course, since it's a Hallowe'en party, maybe you can get away with yucky looking fruit.... :)

I've switched my "party" food to incorporate at least one of the following appetizers - at least those watching their calories have a healthy option: Cut veggies and dip/hummus. Fresh fruit tray Pita chips and hummus Baked tortilla chips and guac
I'd use gummy worms on the guac or hot sauce/ketchup on the dips for "fake blood" maybe. If I had all kinds of time, I'd cut the fruit in pointy shapes and tell kids/friends to make monster faces. The mouth would be melons or pineapple. Eyes/nose would be grapes/berries.
As far as personal snacking i.e. eating something to avoid snacking on the chocolate #1) I plan to give away all the chocolate (at 8pm, some kid(s) will get whatever is left in my candy bowl before I shut down for the night) #2) I plan to NOT open the bags of chocolate until Halloween day #3) I plan to eat before going trick-or-treating and chewing gum when I hand out goodies.

Mini pizzas. Use mini whole grain pitas for crust, brush on some tomato sauce or flavored olive oil, then top with low fat shredded cheese and add toppings. I like mushrooms, green peppers, tomatoes, and Field Roast Italian sausage.
Heat then in the microwave or toaster oven. Or you could stuff the pita pockets and cut them up and serve them like the frozen pizza bites.
