Sounds like you might want to start with some non-food goals and habits first. Like:
- 8-8oz glasses of water each day
- 2+ fruits/veggies each day
- 10+ minutes of fitness each day
- 7-8 hours of sleep each night

Then, move on to tracking what you eat. Whatever it is - just track it. Then, just look for ways to cut out 50 or 100 calories each day. That could be as easy as giving up a soda a day!

Once you have made things like this a habit it will be much easier to work on portion control around others.

You can do it. Don't go to events hungry. I try to have a little bit of something healthy ahead of time making it easier to resist those temptations."

It can be overwhelming if you try to make too many changes at once. If you can focus on one step at a time, like making sure to drink 64 oz. of water each day, it will be easier to develop healthy habits. Once you have taken that first step and made it a habit, move on to another step, like at least 5- 10 minutes of exercise per day. Lots of good info and tips can be found here on the website and in the Spark book. emoticon emoticon

I have a life full of family events and social engagements. I am very blessed to have a busy fulfilling life.My problem... I have no will power. When ever I am with my people all of my resolutions go right out of the window. I am overweight, I am 5 feet tall and every extra pound feels like ten pounds. I am uncomfortable and self conscious. What is wrong with me that I can't stick to my plan of healthy lifestyle and getting to a healthy weight?! I want to set an example for my children, get to a healthy weight and stay there.
