Hi ~ Welcome to SparkPeople. I find that interacting with other Sparks is really the best way to stay motivated and on-track. Taking advantage of the educational aspects of SP is also key to weight loss goal success. Come back to the message boards and read blogs to find people that you feel like you would like to "friend" These folks will help you attain your goals.
Know that through using SparkPeople to it's fullest potential will help you more successfully attain your goals. Come up with a BIG reward (like mine is a cruise) to help you stay focused and successful in maintaining your new healthy lifestyle. And look at this as a change in your lifestyle, not just another diet.

Just take every thing choice by choice and you will do wonderful! That is what has helped me most. If I sit here and think oh my I need to lose 85 lbs it just gets to be too much to think about but if I think should I have a big juicy cheeseburger and fries for lunch or a salad -- well that is much easier.

There is some great advice here. You might consider creating a Spark page and joining a team or two to find like-minded people. Making small changes over time has been the key for me.

WELCOME! Nice to have you with us! I love my Sparkworld, and so will you!
Here are tips I put together to share with each new Sparkperson I meet. I hope it will be a help to you as you work toward reaching your goals!
First of all, think about creating a Sparkpage or if you have the setting for private, make it public. Great place to send you encouragement, support and Sparkgoodies! Its also the place you can keep us up on your status!
The site can be overwhelming, take your time. Learn one topic at a time, when you get comfortable with it, move on to another area of the site. Soon you will be using all the tools SP has to offer, and loving it!
Use your Spark Points (click on view SparkPoints) as a map to the site. It is a good way to learn your way around and you can earn points to send yourself or others Sparkgoodies.
Go back to your Start Page if you get lost, you can get almost anywhere from there.
Be sure to use the nutrition tracker. You can ensure you are getting the proper nutrients as well as tracking your caloric intake and this is so important to any weight loss journey.
Never "diet" again! Keep focusing on living a healthier lifestyle!
