Take your time to explore all the resources available for you here. It can seem overwhelming because there are so many resources to choose from. Two to consider using are the Nutrition and Fitness Trackers. Also, check out Spark Teams under the COMMUNITY Tab. Do searches on your goals, interests, hobbies, whatever. Then join one, two or more Spark teams. You'll enjoy getting to know these folks and giving and getting lots of encouragement along the way. It's all good. Enjoy the journey!

Hello Dawn!!!! Congratulations on your smoking success and now your weight loss and healthy journey! Be kind to yourself, be patient, and know that you will have rock star days and crappy days :) Just keep going! Track everything that passes your lips and move your body a little more each day. They do have chair exercise videos on here that I have used when I was hurt or injured...back issues as well :) There is always an answer here for you when you feel you hit a wall! Even if ya just need to vent to someone who's been there! :) Have a rockin' 2013!!! It's your year!!!

Good luck, Dawn! Success in one area is a good predictor of success in another! I was successful on another message board for getting out of debt. Keeping my finances in line is now just a regular part of my life... which is how I hope exercise and healthy eating will be for me for the rest of my life!

WELCOME TO SPARK!!! Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time. A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.
1. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.
2. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.
The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. There's so much here to help you along the way and excellent advice to setting and achieving healthy goals. With the thousands and thousands of fellow Sparkers you will always find someone you can connect with. I am always amazed how many lives have been changed for the better through the use of SparkPeople.
If you have not already done so, I suggest that you check out the videos in the "Healthy Lifestyle" section. Scroll down for the site orientation videos.
That should point you in the right direction. I find that if you just start looking around Spark, you will quickly learn about the wonderful tools available for your use. After being a Sparker since 2007, I still find something new and very useful.

Ok 7.5 years ago I logged in online to a program that helped me to kick smoking. It did a fab job at that. In the process I gained a whollllllllllllllllllllllllllle lotta pounds and have been struggling with that ever since. I have lumbar scoliosis and the excess weight is not doing me any favors. I am sure hoping this online group will help me like the stop smoking one did and maybe once and for all I can put this last hurdle behind me. No maybes... lets get this done!
