Welcome to SparkPeople!

Are you competitive by nature? One of my daily goals is to hit 100 SparkPoints. When I do that, I've not only read articles, I've interacted with other members by reading and commenting on their blogs and writing my own blog. 100 points gets me here and gets me active each and every day.

When I started, I made the commitment to workout daily and write a blog about it. On days when I don't feel like doing it, I think about the blog I need to write and I certainly do NOT want to write that I was lazy and did not work out.

Maintain your goals on your SparkPage (that's what all the goal-setting gurus write about) and make the goals public on your page. Write about it on your blog every day.

Weight loss = calorie maintenance, cardio, and strength. Calorie maintenance is every day, cardio is at least five days per week, and strength is 3 to 4 days per week. I believe you need all three for a successful weight loss and fitness program.

Above all, be consistent. Doing something toward you goal every day will pay big rewards over the next few months. You can do this!

emoticon Welcome to Spark. You have taken an important step on your journey by joining!
I've been a member a little more than two years. I made fantastic progress and lost 100 pounds in the first year BUT I became careless about nutrition and exercise and have gained a lot of the pounds back! I became disgusted with myself and closed my Spark account, but soon realized I NEEDED to be here. I'm back using the nutrition and exercise trackers now - they are so important. The sense of community and the friendships I have made here keep me going!
Explore the site, make your Sparkpage if you havenít, join teams, and make friends. You will find this site an amazing place full of encouragement, inspiration, advice, and support.
Please let me know if there is anything I can help you with.
Good luck!
Sheila

My name is Mary and I am from Central Texas. I am 58 years old and am disabled due to osteoarthritis.

On April 9 I had a total knee replacement. Best decision I ever made. I wish I would of done it years ago. Oh well water under that bridge now. I need to have the other knee done too. I will probably get that one done at the beginning of the year.

I just recently joined a gym and doing hydrotherapy class three times a week. I love it. I want to lose weight and get healthy.

Thanks
Mary
