Hi Jo ~ Welcome to SparkPeople. I find that interacting with other Sparks is really the best way to stay motivated and on-track. Taking advantage of the educational aspects of SP is also key to weight loss goal success. Come back to the message boards and read blogs to find people that you feel like you would like to "friend" These folks will help you attain your goals.
Know that through using SparkPeople to it's fullest potential will help you more successfully attain your goals. Come up with a BIG reward (like mine is a cruise) to help you stay focused and successful in maintaining your new healthy lifestyle. And look at this as a change in your lifestyle, not just another diet.

Welcome! Congrats on taking your first steps toward a healthier lifestyle! There are *tons* of resources on here so you're sure to find something to keep you motivated- blogs, articles, quizzes, message boards, and spark teams to name a few! Hello, my name is Jo and I have been a yoyo dieter for the last 15yrs. I have now come to realize that diets do not work, as I have been on everyone of them and gained it all back and more. I am nor at my heaviest and the excess weight is beginning to affect my health.
I am 55yrs old I have got to get this under control now. Also not the the physical side of the weight loss but the emotion side of it too. So that I keep it off for good this time.
