I would make a list of places you're interested in and take a look at the various flight & hotel sites like Orbitz, Priceline, etc. If you book through Orbitz, they will give you money back if someone else books the same thing as you for a lower price after you. If you're open to other options, I'd see what else is out there before you commit. You also have to determine priority; for example, my husband & I went to Hawaii for our honeymoon and while we got decent hotels, we also didn't get a honeymoon suite or anything cause we planned to be out and about for the most part so we looked to spend more money on activities rather than flight or lodging. If timing isn't an issue, you could setup flight alerts or if you're adventurous, pick when you're vacation will be and setup alerts to find the cheapest flights for that week and pick then.
Because of family emergencies/illness, and the fact that I am in the Army we have had a long strung out wedding...after canceling our original wedding date, my Hubby and did the courthouse wedding November of 2011 and finally were able to have our ceremony on the 4th of July 2012... we are now trying to plan the honeymoon that we never got to do. We are thinking of doing Disney World but still open to options.... we are operating on about a $2,500 budget (including 'play money') and I would like to be gone for at least 8 days.... any planing tips/budget tips would be helpful... :)
