I just received a wake up call from my doctor. At 28 I have non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. The solution? Lose weight and maintain a healthy body mass. The saddest part for me is that just 10 years ago I was a very fit life guard who did triathlons for fun. Since joining the navy I have put on 40 pounds.
My wife introduced me to this site and I am very impressed by the organization and thought put into keeping track of what matters and providing helpful tools and ideas for fitness. After speaking with my doctor I was very disappointed in myself, but now that I am a member of Spark People I have hope. Hope that I can meet or exceed my fitness goals. Hope that I can undo some of the damage I have done to my body over the past few years. And hope that by using this site I will regain a positive body image and feel good about who I am once again. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity!
