I'm SOOO glad you're on SP and learning the ropes. Even though the "serving size" frustrates me, too, I've received a HUGE amount of extremely valuable, helpful, credible information on this website. And tremendous support, which is important because this is not an easy road to travel. I'm healthier, 100 times more fit and happier than ever before in my life!
Recipes are a little harder to track, but other foods are simple. Please don't turn to frozen foods. Great results are waiting for you as you learn more about good food choices.
Here's my favorite tool: Go to the orange tool bar at the top of page. Click "healthy lifestyle", then "nutrition", then search for "Portion Distortion". This is the key to eating healthy. I'd say 99% of didn't know this before we started. These simple guidelines will make all the difference as you make food decisions all day long.
When you started SP, did you go to "how to use this site?" SP wisely developed a gradual, simple system of small daily successes using goals & choices WE each make individually..
This gives us the momentum needed to change your lifestyle without getting frustrated or discouraged. Please start there and don't be tempted to "skip ahead" because that stuff is "too simple" or "too slow." The gradual procedure has succeeded for thousands of people who are maintaining their goal weight. Please try it -- you'll be glad!!
The community is a key, too. Friendships develop, encouragement is given, successes & setbacks are shared & we keep moving forward toward our goals --not just weight loss, but other even more significant goals!!!!
You're getting a lot of fitness minutes...TERRIFIC! More movement + better food choices will get you where you want to be!! And you will be thrilled!

I would like to know how much is in a serving of everything. I am totally frustrated with many of the Spark Recipes because I don't know how much is in a serving. I checked my own cooking magazines and those don't either. I have only been on this program for 2 weeks and I feel I have to resort to frozen meals. At least that way I'll know how much calorie intake I'm getting. Any suggestions as to what else I could do would be appreciated.

I completely agree!! I just made Chef Megs White Chicken Chili and all it said was Serving Size: 12!!!! Nothing else. Now you can click on nutritional info and it give calories broken down per ingredient per serving but I am NOT going to count 23 kernels of corn!!
You hit the nail on the head!!! It is useless info if we don't know what a serving size is!
And if I get to decide what size a serving is of a delicious recipe....well...watch my scale go UP!
It would be a tremendous improvement to a wonderful site! I love SP..but this is really a roadblock to my trying new recipes!! I can't track them accurately. And if it's not accurate...why bother tracking? Thanks again!

I'd like to propose that all foods on the SP database that include only "serving" as the portion be eliminated forever.
If that won't work at least let me limit my search to exclude all those records that don't include at least one unit of measure such as
Cup Fluid ounce mL gram Ounce Pound ... I love my oxo kitchen scale and really dont want portion control to be about eating packaged foods.
