Welcome to SparkPeople!! This is a wonderful site with so many resources like articles, trackers, and community SparkTeams to help give you support and keep you motivated. See how many SparkPoints you can get each day and this will help you find and use many of the tools of the site. Make sure you make a SparkPage as this is how you can have people post to you to help inspire you! Please remember this is a marathon, not a sprint. It is not a diet, but a lifestyle change. I am down 71 lbs with SparkPeople and I feel so much lighter and stronger and healthier every day! You can do it! Best of luck on your journey to a healthier lifestyle!

Welcome to Spark. You have taken an important step on your journey by joining! I've been a member a little more than two years. I made fantastic progress and lost 100 pounds in the first year BUT I became careless about nutrition and exercise and have gained a lot of the pounds back! I became disgusted with myself and closed my Spark account, but soon realized I NEEDED to be here. I'm back using the nutrition and exercise trackers now - they are so important. The sense of community and the friendships I have made here keep me going! Explore the site, make your Sparkpage if you havent, join teams, and make friends. I think that this is a wonderful place and the only place that has really helped me. Look around. You might be interested in joining some "Challenge" teams so that you will get extra encouragement and motivation on your weight-loss path. I always find that using the trackers helps to keep me honest and knowing that I will track my exercise always makes me want to get in another 5 or 10 minutes. Knowing that I will track my food helps me to choose a friendly carrot instead of a more ominous choice.
Look at the Spark Teams for emotional support and strength as well. There are so many empathetic, sympathetic people here.

I first logged onto this site on June 19th at the request of my PCP, LNP. She thinks this site will help me. I am disabled and I have some medical problems that hinder my diet and exercise. I don't get out much anymore. I am more than 100LBS overweight. I have been exercising for 3 months now and seem to be gaining weight instead of losing. I like the trackers because they make me realize what and how much I am eating. Please bare with me, I don't know how much to say or if I am saying too much. I really need help. I am miserable and depressed. And I am only 44 years old.
