IT has actual veggies in it - cooked on a grill not deep fried, and I ordered it on a whole grain bun that I checked the specs on before ordering. I know the people at the grill really well so they gave me the salad for free!!

I agree that it definitely depends on the veggie burger... is there a way you can find out what brand it is/how it is prepared? Maybe even ask for it without the bun so you aren't eating all of that refined white-bread.

a salad beats onion rings, hands down.
beef versus veggie in terms of burger really depends on what you get. some veggie burgers are just a ton of processed soy that's then breaded and often deep fried. other veggie burgers actually have veggies in them. i would say that the breaded veg burger that's really processed would be the worst choice for you. then the beef burger [especially if it's just a plain burger or cheeseburger and especially if it's not that big]. then a veg burger that has veg in it. and that's assuming you're just looking at calories and nutrients.

Veggie burger and salad is a big improvement, and they all add up!

Good job!

I love turkey burgers but the grill on campus doesn't carry them

Another thing you may want to try too is turkey burgers. Jennie-O makes ones that are really delicious and super easy to cook on a George Foreman; 4 minutes & they're done! :)

With finals week in full force I don't have time to go home and get lunch, so instead I'm going to stop by the grill (which will be closing for the summer). However, instead of my beef burger with a side of onion strings, I'll have a veggie burger with a side salad!! Improvement?
