Why purchase what you can obtain for free? There are better quality workout avail for free which are as good if not better than anything you can purchase. If you want to purchase then avoid the ones hyped in infomercials and haunt the thrift stores or go to under hyped and very effective programmes such as Turbulance Training www.turbulance training.com , Mode Athletics www.modealtheletics.com Max Workouts www.maxworkouts.com or Shapeshifters www.shapeshifters.com

In addition there are quality workouts here on Spark People which are free.

It is called WORK-ing out for a reason.

I said getting fit was simple, I did not say it was easy.

Cardio burns calories, strength work burns fat.

I would recommend buying videos if you're just starting to get into exercise. Programs like P90X are just cycles that sap your money. There are so many free workouts online (bodyrock.tv, anyone?) that are challenging, yet doable.

With that said............

**Buy your videos used, if at all possible** When I first started working out, I bought the Turbo Jam series, Jillian Michaels 30 day shred, some kickboxing workouts, Winsor Pilates, JariLove's ripped series... the list goes on. The ones I really stuck with were Turbo Jam and kickboxing.

Depends. What do you like to do for exercise? Pick something you like. I'm sure you could get the Jillian ones from your local library and try them out before you commit to buying.

Look into the videos and see what seems like the best/most fun for you. I love kickboxing, so if I'm going to drop $$ on a workout video, it will most likely be turbo fire.

What is your current fitness level like? I own both the P90X and the Power 90 DVDs. I am not at the level to stay P90X, so I'm doing the Power 90 first.

Ok, so I'm about to embark on the adventure of purchasing my first crazy workout DVD.

What's everybody recommend?
