HOW DO I JOIN? Haven't been on this site for quite awhile. I did lose 12 pounds for the month of April. I don't mind joining this club for May. But another 10 lbs. in my second month may not happen since you usually lose more than the norm in your first month. I will continue to do as I did and see how it goes.

I normally weigh in on Mondays but I did weigh in today. 157.8 for today but I can see smaller numbers coming. We can do this WOOHOO.

Thank you for joining my May Challenge to lose 10 pounds I hope everyone is up for the challenge and will give it their 150%.

Remember u will get out of this program what u put into it. I know this program works. I’ve been a Sparker for 12 months now and lost 75 pounds. so like I said if u do the work this program will work for u.


The key is to track everything that passes your lips..did u know just tasting your dinner while your cooking is 25 cals per taste? I was wasting 100 cals tasting.. emoticon

Drink your 8 glasses a water a day, if not more..it will help flush away those pesky fat cells..not to mention, does wonders for the skin. emoticon

Exercise is crucial...some of us cant exercise (me included) but the key is to move, anyway u can. clean, garden, just keep moving..burn them calories.

Post Post Post, post daily for inspiration and motivation..there is a lot to be learned on this site and from your fellow Sparkers...by posting Ull learn that your not alone and there are others on here with the same issues as u.. we are all in this together..so keep posting daily!!

and last but not least planning ahead serves to be very useful..when I am out an about I pack a lunch so that I wont have to make unhealthy choices when I get hungry..when I started Sp I began doing that and my friends used to laugh at me..and now im down from a 22/24 clothing and I’ve caught up to them at 14/16 now I say to them whose laughing now... emoticon now they do the same thing LOL..So with that being said..

Lauren, thanks so much! It certainly has not been easy, but I am really starting to see the positive changes now.

GW: 218 (For some reason this number just seems so far away right now, I think because the last time I was this weight it was 1999!)

I don't want to do my official weight in until tomorrow morning, but something happened tonight I kind of want to get off my chest. I am currently separated after a 15 year relationship with my ex, and we have recently gotten back to being friends. I am supposed to be going to visit him next weekend and I thought things were going well between us. Well he just sprung it on me that he has a girlfriend whom he has been seeing for the past 6 months. This is particularly upsetting because he kept telling me how he wishes he could "turn back the clock and we could still be together". I was not expecting this kind of thing, and it brought back so many of the bad and upsetting emotions from so many of the years that we were together.

Ordinarily, I would smoke, eat crap, or at the very least have a drink. I can't do any of those things now. I gave up smoking for the last time in November 2007, I had to give up drinking any kind of alcohol, and I can't eat the crap anymore because it makes me very sick. After my conversation with him this evening I was just sick with emotion. I was sad, angry, mad, lonely, and resentful. I called my mom and talked to her about it for a bit, and then decided to go down to the gym to get rid of all of the negative energy. I think it was the best workout I ever did. I was on the elliptical, and I blasted through 5k in 38 minutes, with arm work too. I didn't even care what was jiggling. I rode each step as high as I could and really gave it my all.

After that I cooled down with the best stretching session yet. I can't believe how far I have come with that. Sitting down with my legs stretched out in front, I can grip my feet with my whole palm to the bottom of my feet. I felt so much better when I was done, even though I know I may have overdone it a tad. I feel stronger, both physically and emotionally. I feel very proud of myself, it is not easy for me to go without my "crutches". I am glad I got through it in a constructive way.

I am so ready for the May challenge to start tomorrow and so excited to be a part of this team. I will check my weight in the morning, and I plan to take my measurements as well. That is something I have been avoiding as I hate to think of what those numbers are, but I plan to look at it as motivation to get them down!!

It has been a rough day. I got a call from my daughter this morning that she had to take my grandson to the ER as he fell out a 3rd story window (he is 3 and pushed on the screen after he managed to open the window) Thank goodness he is fine and only has a couple of bruises!! We feel very lucky.
Food is usually my comfort when I feel stressed, but so far today I have managed not to fall into that bad habit.

My plan is to keep doing Crossfit, heavy lifting, sprinting, and adding in fun outdoor activities when summer is here (like biking, hooray!).
Most importantly, I want to break the 100-lb barrier for squats, cleans, overhead + bench press.

As far as food goes, I want to up my protein intake to 100g/day, keep my carb intake below 150g/day, and get my 5-7 fruits + veggies in along with my waters. I'm not going to beat myself up about eating anything else as long as I meet these goals.

Having a rough day... My throat hurts, I have to pay to get my car fixed, just stuff going wrong, BUT!

On days like this I often turn to food but today I DIDN'T! I am very proud. My mantra was, "Food will not make me feel better, it will make me feel worse." It got me through.

Hope the rest of the day goes well for all of you, too!
