this almost never fact, the first time in my memory, hence the panic. I am usually well stocked with basics, but the universe misaligned so that I had nothing today.

Do you have ANY food at all for these occasions? I always make sure that I have a well stocked pantry even tho' we live off the smell of an oily rag. I have a special pantry (unused wardrobe with shelves actually - LOL!) that I have long-life stuff - packets/cans/cartons, covering all food groups. To do this successfully start by buying one or two of those things that you WOULD use, that are on special! it will soon grown and you won't be in this predicament any more. Also, IF you have a freezer, start cooking in bulk so that you have some grab/heat/eat meals as well.

my husband ended bringing me lunch, but the point was that he never eats leftovers, while always expecting me to, therefore risking my health. I *could* have eaten the chili..but I won't.

And I had bread...but plain bread is not a meal. I have none of the other foods you listed.

hmm... so, nothing ? no crackers ? no bread ? no cans of soup ? cereal ? oatmeal ? tuna ? peanut butter ? granola bars ? pasta ? you could have pasta with a pat or two of butter.

What kind of shape is the chili in ? As long as it doesn't smell weird and hasn't turned into a science experiment, it may still be okay. Your nose will tell you for sure.

Any baby food ? It'll do in a pinch.

There is absolutely nothing, zero in my house for lunch besides week old chili. I can't go out for lunch because a) I can't afford it and b) it would involve packing my toddler back in the car.

Eat the week old chili or starve?
