Mon., May 7th -

4. motivation: To be more healthy for myself and my family. Goal weight for the end of May = 171 lbs. (starting weight 174.2). To keep up my running by doing it at least 1 to 2x per week and to keep increasing my distance and speed.

Cathyrose, sorry to hear that you are suffering from plantar fasciitis. I know that can be painful. I had that several years ago. You can still do low impact stuff like swimming or spinning classes. That is how I originally got into spinning, I was looking for something low impact that I could do. I still wear my custom orthotic inserts religiously whenever I have to do more than a little bit of walking or standing and also always always stretch out that area really well after exercise. I learned which stretches to do and I never skip them. Those are the things that have helped me. I have been basically pain free, was able to avoid surgery and other trips to the doctor's office, and have been able to get back to the things that I enjoy such as hiking & even started running.

**Turns out I am suffering from plantar fasciitis so I am a bit hindered in my walking. Will substitute something to keep it up.

The plan is simple. Each day we post:
1. Number of cals: 1386

2. Number of minutes of exercise: 80

3. Number of glasses of water: 8

4. Motivation: (the same one everyday) : to have a good reports when Ihave my physical in June.

5. Delight: (What made you smile or brought you joy today?): Celebrating my friends birthday who just finished her last chemo treatment for breast cancer.

BIG SUCCESS: Not overeating at my friend's birthday party. M & M' s sitting out only ate about 10. mini dove bars sitting out only ate 2. I would usuallly have eaten several handfuls of M & M's and probably about 6 or more of the dove bars.

I think I started this last year and dropped out after my car accident.

I thought I would try again.

Successes for the week -
Exercised 4 of 7 days, including one longer trail run.
Did well drinking my water.

I have been struggling with balance this past week or so. It's been really busy as things are wrapping up with the kids school year & I have been struggling to fit it all in.

exercise- 135 minutes
motivation- To weigh 190 lbs by June 1
delight- conversation and cards with friends last evening

Successes for the week:
- lot of exercise minutes during this past week
- Ate w/in calorie range 5 of 7 days( one day to little and one day too much)
- Did not eat any sweets again for the 10th week in a row
- Best of all I lost another 2.5 lbs this week

Started a 31-day challenge to reduce my average carb intake by 15% - so far, so good!
Exercised every day except Sunday, I think

Ate more fresh fruits and veggies
Tried a new recipe for dinner last night

5. Delight: Seeing my niece be honored as a Post Dispatch Scholar Athlete at the Cards game (and the nachos I ate while I was there -- only like 6, but still they were delightful!) even if my one year old wasn't feeling well and only lasted an inning. Really everything about it was delightful - in the inning we were there Beltran had 3 rbi's which is one less than the great Albert Pujols has had all year. Sorry about the babbling, clearly the Cards get me going! Have good days!

I could really use the help!! I am hoping to lose 10 pounds this month. I have been trying to lose 10 pounds a month since January but have only succeeded in 20 so far. Proud of that anyway!

My motivation for May will be all of the events I have the first week of June - 8th grade gateway, senior dinner, high school graduation. I want to feel fit and healthy as they all roll around! May is always an exceptionally busy month!

I took a little break last month, and Cassie was gracious enought to take over. Thank you, Cassie! But I missed everyone, and now I'm back!

Summer is right around the corner. I'm not quite ready for summer, and I need my buddies. So let's make this a great May, and welcome summer in style. Please join me in the May 1-31 Buddy Motivation Challenge.

The plan is simple. Each day we post:
1. Number of cals:
2. Number of minutes of exercise:
3. Number of glasses of water:
4. Motivation: (the same one everyday)
5. Delight: (What made you smile or brought you joy today?)

On Day 1, state what your motivation is to lose weight. Repeat this same motivation for the next 31 days. Your motivation has to be something that will inspire you to lose weight.

This is an example:
cals: 1400
water: 8
exercise: 30 min
motivation: Memorial Day celebration
delight: planning a get together for the event

FRIDAY is SUCCESS DAY. Post any successes you've have during the week.
