I used to get at least one migraine a week (usually on the weekends) but I recently gave up caffiene because I had a 5 day long migraine and I decided I needed to make a change. I went through a week and a half of withdrawal (brutal!) but in the end I am feeling much better. I used to drink a 44 oz. of diet coke every morning and then at least another 20 oz in the afternoon, so this was a big change in my life. It is so worth it if you can identify your triggers and avoid them.

Thanks for this thread. I'll have to keep an eye out for my triggers and try to combat mine. At least I know its possible! I just hate taking tablets all the time and them never working :(

Hi Karen, I know exactly how you feel with migraines. Ive had them from grade school until now. Im am slowly trying to identify my triggers. I have learned a couple so far.
1. MSG-- its hidden in so many foods. I.E. soup, ranch dressing, seasonings, onion soup mix.
2. cheese.
3. some fruits and veggies (this is a new one for me)
4. Aspartame and Splenda
5. processed meats and foods.
The best ways i have coped with migraines
1. excercise
2. i am currently on a medication called Midrin for migraines and it works well, but it makes me so tired and it can be habit forming
3. laying down with a heating pad on my head.
4. the over the counter HEAD ON can help take the edge off.
5. This is a new one ive heard but havent tested yet- lemon juice.
Good luck and i have heard that ciropractors can really decrease migraines. Good luck!

I've had migraines my whole life...this is what I do to relieve them:

1. Get lots of sleep
2. Drink plenty of water
3. Exercise when you can--stretching/strengthening more than anything else (ie pilates, yoga, etc.)
4. Take something as soon as you feel it coming--it sometimes alleviates the need for a prescription.

I was experiencing anything from headaches to migraines almost daily. My doctor ran test and found nothing.

I finally went to a chiropractor because my back was hurting. When I was in the consultation he checked my neck also. He said there were 4-5 vertabrae that were locked in a position and that it can cause sever headaches.

I have had 11 visits so far for him to adjust my back and my neck and my headaches have been reduce to almost nothing. I MAYBE get one a week. Nothing near as bad as daily.

Can anyone help, over the last few weeks I've been getting some serious headaches. The first time was about two weeks and it lasted four days, then yesterday I got another one that lasted well into this afternoon. Even now I have this dull ache.

Wondering if anyone's experienced anything like this I went to my doctor and he ran some tests but my test results came back clean. My doctor thinks it's stress related to the wedding but honestly I've completed everything. Has anyone's experienced any this.
