Taking care of your health IS every bit as important as getting some regular exercise. You will not derail any of your efforts at good health or weight loss because you have to take a few days off from your routine to take care of yourself.
The fact is, if you're fatigued and not feeling well, exercising is the last thing you should do. Could you get in a work out ? Sure, but it wouldn't be productive. You're also at a higher risk for injury because you're fatigued. It's okay to take a few days off to REST. As you start feeling better and have a bit more energy, you can slowly ease back into a routine.
But for now, it's time to take it easy. get plenty of rest and push those fluids. Like everyone is saying, taking care of yourself when you don't feel well IS a part of a healthy lifestyle.

Okay, another opinion-- rest and call your doctor. This whole Spark thing is about a healthy lifestyle, not pushing ourselves until we're miserable or dead.
While it may be true that in the past, an illness or injury would derail you-- you CAN choose to do things differently, any time you want. I tell myself all the time, if you always do what you always did, you'll always get what you always got. Well, I don't want that any more! I want different, I want better, I want more. That means taking care of myself when I'm sick or injured. And it also means rising up and getting going, when I'm not.

I can't say it any better than Coach Nancy. For Heaven's sake, rest!! And call your doctor - pus pockets on your tonsils indicate to me that you have an infection and maybe need antibiotics. If you feel like you need to "keep going," my advice is to continue to eat healthy and rest, and look around on SP for chair exercises that you can do just to move a little, or maybe take a short leisurely walk, WITHOUT overdoing it. You can still make progress while working on getting well. And don't worry about it, if you can't exercise right now. You'll start again when you feel better, because you have all the tools and all of us on SP to support you.

Your health should be your top priority. Take care and allow your body to heal. Failure is only when we allow the obstacles to define who we are. Overcoming these obstacles is what will define you, but your goal now is to get healthy which includes rest and calling your doc. Remember illness and exercise are both stressors on your body so doing a workout when you are ill may actually prolong your illness.

Well I woke up this morning and could barely swallow! As I check my throat in the mirror I noticed I seriously look like death today. Major dark circles under my eyes. I have pus pockets on my tonsils but no fever...yet. I also have bad discs in my back which causes swelling and pain in my left foot and that too is majorly flared today. This is where I usually get off track EVERY single time! Never fails when I start working out that either I start hurting or I get sick. Every inch of me says keep going anyway because I do NOT want to fail this time! But the other part of me says what if I need to rest? Will I make things worse by pushing myself?
