Hope the Bills enjoy the win.. Unfortunately, they can't play the Chiefs every week ;)

Bills 41
Chiefs 7

That one felt good! It's been a while since my Bills put a whuppin' on someone like that, and no better team to do that to than the Chiefs!

I have to say I enjoyed the football weekend uite a bit- the Bills won in a blowout; Notre Dame blew it again to basically eliminate itself from BCS Title contention; and the Jets beat the evil Cowboys last night!

A great football weekend from my point of view!

Didn't know i was looking for credit from you. i thought we were picking teams that might have a chance of winning the super bowl...oh well, i guess i misunderstood the thread..next time you might want to pick teams for dark horses that will win more than a combined ten games.

Coop- I think a team like your Chiefs last year are the perfect example of a dark horse: last place one year, everyone thinks they're a loser, and they burst on to the scene with a big playoff run.

Dark horses are not teams picked by Peter King of SI to play each other in the Super Bowl! Sorry- I will give you no credit for finding a "dark horse" there! emoticon

Eric, the only reason i would consider them dark horses, is because neither of them have shown the ability to win playoff games lately. Also, i believe we were being asked to pick a couple of faves. as someone who sees both of these teams play a lot, they both possess some gaping holes in their games that have hindered them from being more than a playoff team in recent years.

also, not sure that Cleveland qualifies as anything other than a 5 win team (if things go their way) the kitties always seem to find a way to mismanage talent. while they may have a once in a generation type of talent in Suh, it's likely that they'll find a way to screw that up. 4 wins would be a major accomplishment for our friends in motor city.

coop- i don't consider either San Diego or Atlanta to be dark horses! They are arguably favorites to win their conferences, depending on which magazine you read. emoticon

Although I'm not a Rex Ryan fan, I have to admit that the Jets are looking like an early favorite to me in the AFC. Their defense is solid, and Sanchez has some experience under his belt. My darkhorse for the AFC is San Diego.

The NFC is wide open, but i would have to give the edge to Philly, just because they are so loaded with talent. They will have to try really hard to mess this team up. My darkhorse for NFC is Atlanta.

My Chiefs will hopefully make it to 9-7, but probably miss the playoffs this year.

Eric - I think the Pats will do surprisingly poor this season. The hype for them is misleading cuz I think Ochocinco and Haynesworth are past the point of playing well. Bellichek may get them on board with his system (I said the same thing about Moss and he did quite well), but I think the Jets will edge them out. Colt McCoy and Matt Stafford are certainly poised for good seasons this year I like the Darkhorse picks.

Chuk, don't get me wrong, Shockey has never played anywhere I cared about, so I'm not a fan, I'm just surprised the Panthers were able to get a "NAME" this season. But that may speak volumes about Shockey's talent level if he's settling with the Panthers.

I think the Pats look loaded. I hate to say it, but will pick them and the Eagles for the Super Bowl this year.

Dark horses: Cleveland and Detroit.

My Bills? 8-8!

Jell: Love reading your stuff, all makes sense to me, except for one item: Jeremy Shockey is (and always has been) one of the most over-rated players in football. Possibly one of the most over-rated examples of homo sapiens (& I'm guessing about that status) I've ever heard speak out loud. Other than that, I've pretty much agreed with you.

I get really excited about football and MMA. I think the in the AFC it will finally be the JETS season to get past the AFC championship game hump and Sanchez will finally exhibit some leadership skills in year 3 of his career. NFC will be a toss up between the Packers and the Eagles. Eagles got a lot this season but the Packers haven't lost anyone from last year, infact, theyre healthier this season. Dark Horse prediction...NFC darkhorse will be the RAMS, theyre gonna play spoiler at the end of the season and back into the playoffs by the skin of their teeth and win a first round ala the seahawks last season. AFC darkhorse will be a very similar story with the Titans. Hasslebeck is a leader and he will inject a new life into the Titans locker room. They may not take the South from the Colts this year, but they'll make a run at it.

I don't even know enough to make good picks for the first week, let alone the full season, but I'll be enjoying the season just the same. I used to know the players and who they played for, but since they added more teams and players move around so much, I just sit back watch the games when I can and let my sons and grandons tell me what is going on.

And speaking of good players, is anyone else excited to see Newton try and drag the Panthers out of the basement. He's got Shockey there with him so at least there's someone who can block and go out and catch one for him in a pinch.

Thanks for the props Andy. I'm not a Broncos fan, but I like good players and I can see that when Tebow gets a shot he's going to be good. Wilk, I wont replace the pros with lady ball, but I will give it a watch. Eric, I have a 3 year old boy, and I can't wait to start taking him to games like that, sounds like fun. Really can't wait for regular season.

I took my boy to my favorite team's preseason game, Bills "Kids Night", last night- great to get back to the stadium and soak in some football.

Preseason game #3 is traditionally when the starters play the most minutes, and both teams (Bills and jags) played their starters the whole first half. Jags kept their starters in for about 5+ minutes of the third quarter too.

Bills starting units demolished the Jags starters- good to see. The Jags caught up by having their starters beat up the Bills scrubs and benefit from some very questionable bogus ref calls. The Bills prevailed in OT, however, 35-32.

Great preseason game. My 10 y/o son loved it. Now on to the regular season- my family splits up season tix.....

so tonight I was scanning channels when I found the Lingerie Football League, I must say after about 15 minutes of watching it both my and I were talking about DVRing this and watching it on Sunday instead of the crybaby pros. To be honest I thought that when I heard about this years ago it was eye candy playing around. These girls were banging heads and throwing so great blocks and tackles. Now I was kidding about the dvr but it is worth a look and another night of football

I agree with 777. Tebow clearly has leadership abilities that the Broncos have missed since Elway. Cutler had a ton of talent, but no leadership and will take the Bears nowhere. Orton is a nice guy, but won't take anyone to a Super Bowl.

Agreed. But all indications from his previous NFL starts seem to say he would win. Give him a shot can't be worse than Orton.

College football is a totally different thing than pro football.

Just because Tebow won in College doesn't mean he'd win in the NFL. If he were good enough, he'd be starting.

That's exactly how I feel with the Tebow thing, and I'd be more interested in seeing how Bellichek is going to keep Haynesworth and Ochocinco in check.

I hate FL and I'm not a Bronco fan or Tebow lover in any regard but the one thing that you can't argue is Tebow wins games.

I don't know how, but he does. He doesn't have the typical NFL arm, his delivery is awkward and he isn't "built" like a QB. However, when Tebow started the last 4 games last year, I believe Denver went 3-1 with their only loss to the Raiders who swept the AFC West. In that one loss they only lost by 9 points and they lost by over 35 when Orton started against the Raiders.

I wish they would just start Tebow so we could see for a full season what he is all about. You can't argue that he wins games.

Looking forward to seeing how New England uses their backup qbs. They will groom one for replacing Brady in 5 or so years or they will trade them both for higher draft picks. They did a great job of getting two back ups that they can use.

PUMPED!!! I was going to completely boycott everything NFL if they missed any games. Now that the full season is back on, I already got my Sunday Ticket started and I already got my tickets for the Raiders vs Vikings game. Row 4 seats 12-18, end zone.

Hopefully DA RAIDAZZZZ can sweep the division again, although I think we are going to take a step back this year. Oh well, love my football. And the Hawkeyes kick off in 16 days!!!!

Jelle- looks like you're wearing a Jays hat! Go Jays! Toronto is turning the corner I think.

I tried to incorporate my Sunday workouts into football last year, and will probably do the same this year. If I'm watching a game on Sunday afternoon at home, I'll treadmill at the beginning of the second half- I have a TV set up to watch while treadmilling. I tape the "Football Night in America" highlight show on the DVR and watch it on Monday mornings while I treadmill too.

Go Bills!

A new football season can only mean one thing...Sundays filled with sitting, watching, and drinking. Last years football season is the primary reason I need to loose weight to begin with. Really going to work hard to incorporate my new healthy lifestyle into Sunday and Monday nights.
