I can totally relate. I had a phase in which I didn't eat anything I couldn't measure in grams. Thankfully, I was able to work through it and have had a much healthier relationship with food for several years now, but how weird that time was is a reminder of the importance of balance and attention to wellness in all aspects of the human experience, body, mind, and spirit.

I am using the tracker and must admit I am getting a bit crazy with it lol I have some OCD tendencies to begin with so that doesn't help either.

Welcome to SparkPeople! Sounds like you're getting right on track, DD -- that's a good program, and I hope you will be able to get continuous support from the trainer who set you up with it.

The previous advice to set up your nutrition tracker is what I would recommend, too. Don't get too hung up on the numbers, though -- the point is to eat enough to nourish and repair your body, and give you enough energy to get through your new workouts, not make you crazy trying to account for every tiny pea!

Be sure and check out the nutrition and fitness trackers - both are very helpful tools. Besides calories you can track protein, fats, carbs, and so much more.

Best wishes on your journey to a healthier and fitter you.

Hello, brand new to Spark.. While I am not overweight, I am over 40! LOL Wanting to get rid of the flab, and get in better shape. I look like I am athletic, just because of my build, and while I was very athletic when I was younger, the years have given me more flab than 'fit', so trying to tone up and get it shape while losing a few pounds. I don't really care what I weigh, but would like to drop a few sizes.

My biggest confusion now seems to be how many calories I should be eating every day..I have cut out the junk and have been eating healthier though. I joined the gym about 3 weeks ago and the trainer there helped me with a program, so I am doing weights along with cardio roughly 4x week.
