Hi and congratulations on beginning your Spark journey!
There's so much here to help you along the way and excellent advice to setting and achieving healthy goals. With the thousands and thousands of fellow Sparkers you will always find someone you can connect with. I am always amazed how many lives have been changed for the better through the use of SparkPeople.
If you have not already done so, I suggest that you check out the videos in the "Healthy Lifestyle" section. Scroll down for the site orientation videos.
That should point you in the right direction. I find that if you just start looking around Spark, you will quickly learn about the wonderful tools available for your use. After being a Sparker since 2007, I still find something new and very useful.

Hi ~ Welcome to SparkPeople. I find that interacting with other Sparks is really the best way to stay motivated and on-track. Taking advantage of the educational aspects of SP is also key to weight loss goal success. Come back to the message boards and read blogs to find people that you feel like you would like to "friend" These folks will help you attain your goals.

I am new to SparkPeople but excited to meet people that have the same goals. I am 49 - married with one child. My weight has been a life long battle. Over the years, I've been successful at exercise but terrible at dieting. Now at 49 - it's hard to lose weight and keep a consistent exercise routine with a crazy work schedule, my family and all that life presents to challenge me. My current weight is 170 and I have 30 lbs to drop - it's a hard 30lbs to loose at 49 - starting menopause and I suffer from anxiety disorder so I am a mess. I am going to make this work and enjoy the journey!
