It's been two and half years for me, and it is SO true. I still track and measure my food. I feel like I'm still "dieting" but I've kept the 55 pounds off for over a year.

Keep up the great work!

Woo Hoo -- As you say, it becomes a lifestyle when you realize that you won't ever 'give up' -- 'fall 3 times, get up 4 times'...that's it!

That is exactly the attitude we all need - a lifestyle change, sustainable for the long run!

You’ll get where you want to go as long as you are taking more steps in the right direction than the wrong one.

Oh you are SO going to win at this!

Once I *got it* that this really is a lifestyle (vs. a "diet") AND that losing weight is at least 80% what you put in your mouth, the weight started falling off. That was such a HUGE lesson for me. That and portion control...which I am still trying to master!

It's true what they say: you don't lose weight to get healthy; you "behave" healthy and the weight comes off!

Congrats and WELL DONE!

I love your way of thinking. I started out recently as well, and am just coming to the same realization.

I started this mission on May 28, 2012 and looked at it like my "Diet". Going into my 5th week, I can see that this isn't just a diet anymore, it's a way of life for me. If I want to consistently stay healthy and fit, I need to take everything I am learning here at Sparkpeople and keep it with me for the rest of my life. Will I fall...probably...will I climb back up....most definitley. I have too many reasons not too.
