Welcome to Spark. You have taken an important step on your journey by joining! I've been a member a little more than two years. I made fantastic progress and lost 100 pounds in the first year BUT I became careless about nutrition and exercise and have gained a lot of the pounds back! I became disgusted with myself and closed my Spark account, but soon realized I NEEDED to be here. I'm back using the nutrition and exercise trackers now - they are so important. The sense of community and the friendships I have made here keep me going! Explore the site, make your Sparkpage if you havenít, join teams, and make friends. Welcome! Sounds like you have a really good attitude about this process :) One thing that helps me even when my scale isn't moving is to look at my day and see if I made healthy choices- healthy choices will ultimately lead to a healthier me even if my scale isn't moving as fast as I'd like it to!
I would really recommend finding some sparkteams on here that speak to you- they're a great source for extra motivations and often run challenges which can be a fun way to stay on track!

Hi everyone. My name is Terry. I have struggled with my weight and self image all of my life. I'm 54. For four brief periods I was at a healthy weight, but never maintained it. Several years ago I lost from my heighest wt. and gained some back, but have maintained a 20 lb. loss since then. But I still need to lose 130 lb to get to my goal. My problem is patience and persistance. In the past I have wanted the weight to come off fast. Sometimes it did, but no longer. I realize I need to accept myself where I am while making changes at the same time. I need to do this for me. I know I have the inner strength to do this because I have accomplished other difficult goals. I am not a weak person. However, I have continually failed to develope the self discipline to care for myself. This is now my greatest goal. I intend to take the skills I've used in achieving other goals and focus them on my health. Here's to a new me.
