I use protein powder only on occassion. My goal is weight-loss right now, so I don't feel that I need a protein shake unless I'm low on my calories or extremely low on my protein. However, that rarely happens.
The protein powder that I have right now is Twin Lab Chocolate. I bought it online at Amazon. They have a huge variety, so I just kept looking for the best value and taste.
no, my protein powder does not help with weight loss. It helps me just get more protein so my muscles can repair themselves. i only use it once a day and about 1/2 scoop in my smoothies. I also use it in my homemade protein bars (which I am going to try to make the first time with raw chocolate)
I love low-carb chocolate protein pancakes topped with crushed strawberries.

I always mix up a scoop of protein powder with water at 5.30am before I head to the gym...it's the only thing I've found that's both easy to prepare and digest before I get into the hard workout...
Before I started doing this, I found I ran out of steam halfway through a hard cardio class or weight training session...

I don't use them. I feel that generally we don't need them, especially if we consume a healthy diet with a healthy balance of protein. I would think that it would be more competitive athletes, especially with weightlifting-type stuff, who would be more inclined to need them. IF I were to have one as a meal replacement, I would be more inclined to use something like Complan, Fortesip or Ensure, which is more designed as a meal replacement.
