Yogurt, eggs, granola

Yogurt! Especially greek yogurt! (my kids like it so much that they sneak it out of the fridge when they think I'm not looking) I like to swirl fruit and yogurt into a bowl of hot oatmeal... the kids always think its special!

Turkey sausage! Tastes just like regular sausage (if a bit drier) and is much leaner than sausage!

You can barely notice soft tofu or greek yogurt blended in a fruit smoothie. Also, my mom made me a quick custard with extra eggs when I was pregnant and needed extra protein because of morning sickness. What about peanut butter, turkey sausage, or non -breakfast foods.

My son is 6 & very very very picky -- one guaranteed food is pancakes, so we use instant mix but add an egg per cup of dry mix. I also mix in a container of Gerber Stage 2 since my son won't deal with textures & the extra fruit can't hurt.

does he like crunchy granola? and can he have nuts? I just made a great baked granola and entered it into spark recipes that a 1/2 cup has about 4 g protein. If you added it milk, or some yogurt to it, would add even more. I plan to keep working on the recipe to work on adding more buckwheat and cutting back on the honey and putting in more agave.

What about a turkey sandwich? I am not a big fan of typical breakfast foods so sometimes I'll do a turkey sandwich or even a PBJ sandwich.

I am horrified that someone recommended Pediasure. It's a processed sugar and a few nutrients in a can.

I agree with non-breakfast foods. I grew up eating whatever for breakfast and I still do that.

I have made a chocolate shake for my kids that they like. I don't know the exact numbers on this though.

1 cup skim milk (or any almond or soy milk)
1/2 cup water
2 TBSP designer whey chocolate protein powder (aprox 9g protein, 1g sugar)
2 TBSP sugar free instant chocolate pudding (powder)
put in blender (I use magic bullet) and pour into glass.

Smoothies with scoop of protein powder and yogurt
Waffles and pancakes with protein powder added to the mix, topped with nuts

What are proteins that he likes? There is absolutely no reason to have "breakfast" foods just because it's breakfast! Especially if you have a child with specific dietary needs. So, if he likes chiken salad, give him that. Maybe use a high fiber bread or English muffin and make a sausage and cheese sandwich. There are some cereals that have decent amounts of proteins, but are pretty processed. You could also try a "green" smoothie. Use some Greek (plain or vanilla) yogurt, a little milk (or juice, or almond milk, etc.) some spinach and berries. The yogurt and milk, plus the spinach, will pack a pretty good protein punch, but the berries help give it a sweeter flavor. You could also do frozen bananas, peanut butter and a bit of cocoa powder with the yogurt and milk for a "banana choco-bnut" flavor. Peanut (or other nut) butter is another tasty source of protein, although a bit on the high fat side.

You don't have to give him typical breakfast foods. If there is something that he likes that is more of a lunch/dinner item, he can still have it for breakfast. If you have leftovers from the night before he can have it for breakfast.

My son is 6.5 years old and has ADHD. It's imperative that we get him healthy (not processed) breakfasts in the a.m. which are high in protein. Any suggestions besides eggs, yogurt (which he's not a big fan of) and cheese?
