I am only posting to say how insanely jealous I am. AAAAAaaahhhhhhh!

Maybe it's the Canadian in me, but game meat is soooo good! We also have the perception (don't know if it's right or not) that because it doesn't come from big battery farms, it's a "cleaner" meat too. That's probably just wishful thinking. But it tastes sooo good!

You're lucky! Game is a very healthy protein source, and many people would pay a fortune for it if they could even get it. The game birds will be fattier, but that doesn't mean they're "bad" for you, just more calorie dense, so watch the portion size.

Okay, that's good to know! I figured duck was fattier but wasn't sure about smaller game birds. And I'm glad bison and elk are leaner, since I enjoy those more than game birds anyway! I don't usually eat too much of the stuff since I don't know exactly what's in it, but I'm happy I can still have a reasonable amount without being too worried!

Quail and duck are fattier than chicken I believe but elk and bison are a much leaner option than beef. They do add fat to ground elk and bison but not near as much as beef.

My boyfriend got a new chef at his job and, as a result, the food he brings home is waaaaay tastier than it used to be. They cook a lot of game meat there and I was wondering where on the nutrition scale most game meat falls. I won't touch venison, but stuff like bison, quail, duck, pheasant and occasionally elk may make it's way into my mouth. Are these meats usually leaner to their normal grocery store counterparts (quail, duck vs chicken; elk, bison vs beef).
