I know that some outdoor goods stores sponsor Nordic Walking programs -- I think they have teamed with local health professionals in this effort.
Not race walking, but perhaps similar in that Nordic Walking is a low-impact activity that can be very high energy!
I understand that, with the Nordic walking sticks, you can really get going. (Using the correct stick tips, along with learning the form, is important, apparently.)
