All tracked data is cleared. If you save it before resetting your account, that is fine and may work for some, but if you want it on the site, you would have to manually enter all that data again after resetting.
I was thinking about this "losing data" business. I'm guessing that a person doesn't have to lose any data. ***Before switching*** they could download their journal notes, nutrition reports, fitness reports, and weight logs.
It appears that all entered data on SP can be also saved to one's computer.
So does this suggestion solve the issue? I'm only guessing here because I don't know specifically what is "lost" when the switch is made (I haven't made the switch myself).

Spark5 is for those in maintenance mode. Really, I wouldn't recommend changing to that if you have any tracked data that you want to keep because you would have to reset your account and select the Spark5 program, but when you reset your account you lose all tracked data. Also, you are not able to create a weight goal without resetting your account again and selecting the weight loss program. It is the same site, but with a few differences, such as not being able to set a weight goal.
If you are in maintenance mode, or when you get to maintenance mode, I would recommend you stay in the weight loss program on the site so you don't lose your tracked data and you have more flexibility in using your account in general. When you are in maintenance, you can go to your weight goal page and update your weight goal to be your current goal with a future date and save your changes. Once you do that, the nutrition tracker will use that maintenance weight goal to figure your nutrition goals.
Hi. I'd like to know more about the Spark5 program. What exactly is it, and how can I switch to it?
Also, I am at goal, and I want to know whether I can get help from the site regarding how many calories I should ingest per day and what my fitness goals should be for a maintainer. My calorie tracker still gives me the minimum-maximum weight for weight loss.
The easy thing for you to do now though is to NEVER switch back. You do not need to be in the Spark 5 program to receive a healthy weight maintaining allowance of calories. The weight loss side will cope perfectly well with a start and finish weight goal of the same figure and give you a value for maintaining that weight.
So the good news is that now you're back in the weight loss side, you'll never need to have this problem again.
Unfortunately, if you'd have asked before the first reset, you'd have been advised by other members that you didn't need to do that. :(

So.... I reset my account for this new year, not realizing I apparently didn't select the right option for changing a weight loss goal. Now in order to do this I must re-set AGAIN and lose all the tracking I've done in the last three weeks. This is frustrating to say the least.
I'm guessing that I am a normal person (for the most part ) and while I may be in maintance now, I may need to switch back if my weight starts to come back. In all the changes it would be nice to be able to opt to switch without having to lose all your entries - not a reset but a change in goals.
Just my thoughts as I try and not be frustrated over this issue this morning. Right now, it feels like a big waste.
My normal process is to just suck it up - because, hey it's a free site, right? But this one is making me wonder if this is where I want to log ANYTHING - if I have to re-enter, maybe I go to another site.
