Don't add the sugar to the whipped topping. You could also get some whole wheat tortillas and sprinkle them with cinnamon and a tad of sugar and bake and fill with fruit and whipped topping instead of using the sugar cookies.
I am 5'4". Starting Weight (4.6.11) 164.6 First Goal 130 - Reached September 2011 Currently maintaining under 120 and working on changing my mental image of myself!
I suggest making your own cookie dough instead so you have more control over the ingredients. Make the following changes to any classic sugar cookie recipe:
Replace the butter with a blend of 50/50 light butter and fat free half and half Replace the all purpose flour with white (not traditional) whole wheat flour Replace the eggs with 100% egg whites
As for the whip cream and sugar replace that with fat free whipped topping. You could also try mixing a sugar free pudding mix with the whipped topping. I think a cheese cake or white chocolate one would be fantastic with this recipe.
As far as great kid recipes go, try the cook book Fast Food Fix by Devin Alexander. This has copy cat recipes for a myriad of classic fast food recipes done in far healthier and more diet friendly ways. Burgers, fries, chicken, pizza, pasta and much more. They will probably love it.
Mix together and give to the kids with cut up fruit ! You can change this up with different flavors of yogurt too.
Or make ice cream sandwiches
take 1 graham cracker rectangle take 1 scoop of fat free cool whip top with another graham cracker rectangle to make the sandwich freeze until firm
kids will eat anything they think is a treat.

Hey Everyone! So I am nannying my little brothers this summer and I am very excited! While I nanny them I obviously have to feed them! They are 7 and 12. They do love fruit (YES!) but also sweets! I found the cutest recipe for sugar cookie tacos a few months back! I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to substitute all the sugary unhealthy ingredients for better ones! That way I can enjoy them to! Also if you have any other suggestions of kid friendly healthy recipes that I'll be able to enjoy on my weight loss journey they are greatly welcomed! And thank you in advance!
Here is the recipe!
Sugar Cookie Tacos Ingredients:
1 Package 18oz refrigerated sugar cookie dough 2 tablespoons cinnamon 1 cup whipping cream 1/4 cup sugar 2 cups of your favorite fruit cut-up
1. Preheat oven to 350. grease 2 baking sheets. Cover rounded forms such as rolling pins or cardboard tubes from paper towel roll with aluminum foil.
2. cut cookie dough into 16 half inch thick slices. Press each slice on a slightly floured surface into a 3 inch round sprinkle with cinnamon. 3. Bake cookies until lightly golden, but still soft, 7-9 min. Gently remove cookies from baking sheet and IMMEDIATELY drape over rounded forms (I found it easier to invert the forms, instead of laying it on top of the rounded form I put 2 rolls next to each other and draped the tinfoil over them pushing down in the middle, then I place the cookie in the middle, they did not break that way.... Clear as mud???? sorry) 4. Cool cookies until firm about 2 min. gently remove. 5. Beat whipping cream and sugar in large bowl with mixer on high until stiff. Fill each cookie with about 2 tablespoons and your favorite fruit.
Again thank you so much!
