My sister bought me a guiness cook book last year for Christmas. Its a great excuse to have Guiness in the house.... emoticon
I'm not much of a beer drinker myself but a slow simmered beef stew (or venison if I'm carefully watching the calories) is just wonderful on a cold weekend. There's a Guiness cake recipe too that I haven't tried yet. Maybe next time I'm having a bit of a calorie splurge.

Thanks. I'll try the brandy as we always have that around........the Guiness is a good idea, but it would never get into a recipe (no matter how little I might need).....this is the only beer I will drink and only one (every couple of months)

Might Brandy or whisky be preferable. Kind of depends on the recipe. Stout, like Guiness, might work too....

Any suggestions for substituting something for sherry when a recipe calls for it........neither my DH not I like the taste and smell of sherry. Thanks in advance for any ideas.
